Great Twists on Local Favourites. Had dinner at Georgie’s last weekend and really enjoyed the new and improved menu. The Moose Diablo and Chile Lime Pasta were great twists using local ingredients. The seafood was fresh, the sauces complementary to the main ingredients without being overpowering, and the presentation on the plate was tastefully done. We finished with the Touton Sopapillaa fine fusion of a local tradition breakfast offering with mixed berries, ice cream, and chocolate. Divine. I only wish we’d decided to pair the meal with a local wine to round out the meal (we were offered but decided to be good…our bad for declining). The dining room has been freshened up and the new artwork drew our eye. I love the picture of Georgie presiding over the dining room and as always, the view from the dining room was stellar. The server was professionally attentive and always appeared at just the right moment even it was the end of a very busy night. Congrats to the chefs on the reworking of the menu! The next day we tried the new lunch favourites at Georgies: the Pork Belly Sliders and the Salt Beef Sandwich. The later is a Twillingate take on the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich and I liked it very much. It had just the right amount of saltiness tempered with mustard. The sliders were a wonderfully decadent wash of favours and textures-seriously yummy! For our finale dinner at Georgies we had the pan fried cod. With the perfecta amount of scrunchions, it was cooked to perfection. It was served up with an Anchor Salad and Lime risotto and I thought I had gone to heaven. It was truly the most divine piece of fish Id ever eaten. I savoured each bite and didnt want the meal to come to an end. A fitting finale to a marvellous weekend get-away in Twillingate.
