Zen combinations are great, dishes not so much. I enjoy the combination plates from Zen (especially the meat egg rolls – yum!)… However I would strongly suggest not ordering the individual dishes. Over the weekend, a group of friends and I got together and we ordered Chicken in chili garlic sauce, Chicken Kung Pao, General Tao Chicken, 2 orders of House Special fried rice and 4 egg rolls. All of the chicken dishes tasted too similar to one another and was hard to distinguish them. As a result, we voted the food as average. The House rice did not have many pieces in them for $8-$10 for each rice dish. However, based on my past experiences with the combo plates, I plan on sticking to those in the near future.
Zen – a state. There aren’t too many Chinese restaurants in my area. Among the ones here, Zen is pretty good. You get the westernized version of chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, chow mein, etc…. it is very tasty. I crave for the authentic dishes we used to get in New Yorl/New Jersey where we used to live. But for the time being Zen is pretty good.
I never will go again. Yesterday I was there with my wife. First we had Hot and Sour Soup. It tasted only like A1 sauce, and so we only ate one spoonful. The waiter asked ‘You did not like?’, but despite our answer we still had to pay for it. My wife had afterwards a duck, which was completely overcooked. I had a lunch special, which was okay, but the spring roll, which came with it, was so oily that I could only eat a third of it.
Pretty darn good. The food at Zen is awesome, but the only thing is; that due to the MSG filled foods my body can only handle it once in a blue moon – however, it is delicious!!!!!!!!!
You couldn’t pay me enough to eat here…be afraid.
From china with love. A great fast MSG filled meal any time of day if that’s the sort of thing you’re into! The price is right, the food is good and the service is wonderful, or you can call and pick up your order and depending upon wait times, generally anywhere between 30-45 minutes.
