Not real Chinese food. This was the strangest Chinese food we have ever eaten. I don’t remember the names of the dishes we had, but my husband’s dish came with a sauce that was literally made with ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. I may not be Chinese and have not spent time in China yet, but I know that was not a traditional dish. We are a little spoiled when it comes to good Chinese food as we lived in a town in the US that has one of the highest rated, most authentic Chinese food restaurants in America. (Yes, they have the awards to prove it.) So…with that said, this place was a bust! I do not recommend it at all.
Dissapointed. Having had their food at the Seaport Market stand, I was extremely disappointed with my sit down experience at Cheelin. The food was bland and overpriced. If you want crumby Chinese food, go to Jean’s – at least you won’t feel ripped off.
Utterly DISGUSTING. We just had a HORRIBLE meal from Cheelin. It was cold, bland, and greasy. In fact, my stomach hurts now. And to top it off, we paid WAY too much for what I would consider the worst Chinese food imaginable. If you’re looking for a good chinese restaurant, then keep looking.. because this isn’t it.
The chef is my roommate. So I don’t need to go there. How lucky!20 Mar, 2009It was really good
Definitely the best and most Authentic Chinese in Halifax.
Poor Service. Went to this restaurant on my second day of visiting Halifax and I was not pleased with the service. As for the food, it was okay.
Cheelin is our favourite restaurant in Halifax. The veggies are ussually fresh from the same farmers that bring food to the market. Anything in Yu Xiang sauce is great, especially the eggplant dishes. Twice cooked pork and spicey crispy ginger beef round out our top three favourite dishes.
