Always a go to…. I visit Halifax once every 3 months with work and Chives is my go to place to eat, consistently great food and service. The waiting staff actually care about your experience and the service. Can’t recommend this place enough.The duck confit is as just to die for and the lamb is simply amazing.
Very good.. Came for a business dinner of 4. We were chatting & took a long time to order- waitress was patient & helpful.Started with the mussels- they were fantastic!! Bread came to the table. – not sure hy they were in a paper bag? Very yummy tho, served with a sweet sauce & butter.Lamb Was fantastic!! 10/10Chicken with risotto was fantastic!! 10/10Ship crusted salmon was good- cooked perfectly- unfortunate it had less flavour than the other entrees. 6/10For desert we had Cream Brle- was delish!! 10/10Chocolate desert- was delish! 10/10Bread Pudding- least sweet out of the 3. Nice, for someone who doesnt love a rich desert. 7/10 After eating we sat chatting for quite a while. One divert disappointing thing – we weren’t offered coffee, tea, or a liquor after our meal. I would return,Great work!!

One of my Favorites. When in town this is one of my must go to restaurants.The food is alway’s excellent and menu selections arealways a chore as what to have.I have yet to have a meal that I wasn’t pleased with.The service is second to none and the staffs knowledgeof there wine is extremely good as well.Highly recommend !RB
I recently had dinner at chives for a small wedding reception of 16 ppl. The food was amazing, but unfortunately the service was really bad. I have been a server for over 6 years and I would have been embarrassed with such lack of care and disregard our server gave us. They constantly got our orders mixed up and seamed very confused on the seating chart, my order was wrong and instead of apologisings, our server was angry and made me feel like it was my fault, eventually coming out and plopping my late dinner at my place and then never once checked to see if it was acceptable. He also would take our plates away without asking and twice brought out cold tea…. For such a nice place they should really utilize the concept of customer service and train there employee to be more pleasant, our over all concensus was that our server was a really sour guy and really put a damper on what was a very special occasion
Had Its Day. First time here. Found it dark and a bit dingy. Definately needs freshening and a facelift.Very limited menu. Food definately forgetable. Seriously overrated.Avoid, there are far better places to eat in this city.
Fantastic food , great service and beautiful ambiance. This is my favorite fancy restaurant downtown. I’ve been back many times and it is consistently the best.
