This is the place to go on a Sunday night to hear a great band play all the sing along songs that we all know and love. The place gets packed but that…

Great Food and Service. The only thing I would change is the volume of the great bands inside. Sometimes it is hard to hear the person beside you.
Bouncers don’t care at all, waited outside for over half an hour for no apparent reason in the cold. Finally got let in, no service whatsoever, drinks are ridiculously watered down, and you have to wait in another line to go downstairs for what looked to be live music? The entire building feels like an over crowded basement. Decided it wasn’t worth staying at, only to find that my jacket had been stolen on a sub zero night. All in all it was awful and I see no appeal in going back, not remotely worth the wait outside and the atmosphere is more frustrating than fun.
usually have a good east coast band playing, the music is often unreasonably loud though, can’t hear the person next to you, but if you’re alright with just drinking and singing along to some east coast music this is a great pub for you.Friendly service, lots of beer selection, i’ve only eaten there a couple times but i’ve never had any complaints with their food, it’s pretty standard pub food
The wings are the best in Halifax imho. They are the biggest I know of, have a crunchy coating and lots of high quality meat. They have only standard choices for sauces but their Buffalo sauce (mild, medium or hot) is what I like. The nachos are very good as well. The service was fast and very friendly. The fish must be good as my wife has ordered it multiple times.
The Lower Deck, overlooking Halifaxs waterfrontcan be a great choice pretty much any night of the week. This is party central so be prepared for long line ups and elbow-to-elbow revelers and particularly on the Sunday night we were there. Sociable is what they say in Nova Scotia to mean Cheers! or Party! And the cheering, jam-packed crowd sure was social, egged on by the six piece house band playing everything from traditional island music, to Peter Frampton, to the Bee Gees. Their Beer Market and Tap Room at Privateers Warehouse cater to larger events and private functions so whether you are looking at your next corporate event or simply a rowdy and loud night cap to round out, as in our case, a full day of work and beer tasting, then make The Lower Deck your last stop in Halifax. followsummer.net
Food is good. Paying? Not so good. The food wasn’t too bad. We had the buffalo shrimp and mussels as the appetizers. Then for the entree I got the Lower Decker and the other two with me got the fish and chips. The shrimps were big and the mussels were flavorful. The Lower Decker (burger) was filling and the fish and chips were done nicely (the inside was moist and the batter was crispy). Now on to paying… We’re not from Halifax so we’re not sure if it’s the norm for restaurants to hold your credit card, but we were forced to give our waiter a credit card until we paid. When we were done our meal, we went to pay. First, the waitress came with the bill and didn’t charge us for our drinks (which we pointed out to her). She then came back with the updated bill and we go to pay only to realize that there was SOMEBODY ELSES CREDIT CARD IN THE MACHINE! If we didn’t notice it right away (as their staff didn’t), another customer would be wondering why they got billed another $100+ and have to fight with the Lower Deck to get it refunded. At first we thought they gave us somebody elses credit card and the peoples credit card that we had, they had. But luckily, they still had our credit card and it wasn’t in somebody else’s wallet. I understand why they hold peoples credit cards, but if this keeps up, they’re going to be in a whole heap of trouble. Maybe they should hold peoples government ID instead. I don’t blame the waitress for this mix up, I blame their management for putting this policy in place (and the scumbags that dine and dash).
