We started with oysters and bacon wrapped scallops, both being fresh and delicious.I wouldn’t say this was the best lobster roll I’ve had, but it’s up there. The chowder was rich and had an excellent amount of seafood incorporated into it.
This is a tourist trap. You’re paying for the location. Over priced for what you get. Long wait for your food; small portions and the food is nothing special. Ive eaten better. Friendly service, but won’t be going back to eat here.
Another awesome seafood place in Halifax!! The seafood platter was delicious, and even though I’m not always a scallop lover, these were great! No complaints at all. The dozen oysters came out missing one, which was added with no problems or delays.
We came here on our honeymoon. We shared the two specials, including swordfish, lobster, shrimp, and scallops. They were really great! Kate, our waitress, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Awesome restaurant!
Dinner meeting at McKelvies. What a fabulous evening at McKelvie’s. The menu had a selection of everything, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. I specially enjoyed their lobster mashed potatoes! We will all be returning soon.Cindy
Dining Experience Sept 13, 2014. This was our first time in Halifax and we wanted to taste fresh seafood. Picked the wrong restaurant. My husband had a whole lobster which was overcooked and chewy, potatoes were cold. I had a bowl of lobster chowder and it obviously sat under a heat lamp because there was a film over it when it finally arrived. The service was terrible. We were ignored half the time because the waiter had a big table which claimed most of his attention. I also had to go to the bar to get my own drink. At the end of the so called dinner, we had to tell the host to find our waiter to pay our bill. Poor start to our vacation but we did eat some fabulous food along the way through the beautiful province of Nova Scotia.
Staff need more training. I am writing this review just to inform owner that there is serious issues with the proffessional training of the staff. First the food was wonderful and our server was fine.Unfortunately that is where it ends. We were a reservation of five adults. When arriving at the resturant and waiting to be shown to our table a. Member of the staff bumped into me almost causing me to fall. As I was not hurt I assured him that there was no damage and I was fine. He was very apologetic and that was OK but there was no follow up what so ever. When ordering drinks I was told that they were unable to serve my Margirita as it was not available. OK I ordered wine instead . When my son (adult) was returning from the washroom he was hit by a server in the head. Again no serious damage but again this was not acknowledged or addressed. My son ordered a special tea the cup was broken and it filled the saucer (no burns thankfully )when we brought this to the attention of a server he took the offending cup away he did not say a word to us or acknowledge that this was something that should be addressed. To make matters worse we were charged for the tea.after paying a bill of over $500.00 we were somewhat disappointed with your resturant .Again this review is to inform your staff training should be addressed. Again this memo is to inform you and if I was owner I would appreciate this input
