First visit 03/25/12…service was passable, draught was great but the food was terrible. Very basic pub food straight from the bag in the freezer to the deep fryer. We had burger, steak, scallops/chips. It was all crappy and not overly cheap. I was so disappointed and won’t be back.
Midtown Boomers?. I recently visited the Midtown/Boomers complex. Was not impressed to say the least. This used to be a pub where men were men and you could get a great steak. This was our stomping ground back in the day. The establishment has moved down the road from where it used to be and is now in what some might call a dance club. It does not have the same atmosphere or charm that it used to. We ended up staying for a drink after supper (hard to screw up alcohol right? …wrong). This place turned into a spot where a few people who looked like they had been around the block a few times (people who looked just haggard and in rough shape ie. could pass for homeless in a low light situation) and got excessively drunk. I guess this is Midtown’s new scene since it has become associated with Boomers.
Waited almost 45 minutes for our food while the 4 tables that came in after us got served their food and were nearly finished bythe time we got ours. Steak was over cooked and the mushrooms I paid extra for were disgusting and from a can. Poor service and bad food. Won’t be going back.

The Midtown is to Halifax what Ben’s was to Montreal or the Bull and Finch Pub is to Boston. Old school awesome food (especially steak & boiled dinner),friendly service & sub zero draught beer have made this place legendary! I can’t say enough good things about this place.
Awesome. Midtown has been a Halifax icon for more than 50 years and there is a great reason for it. The steak is well seasoned and they actually know how to cook it the way you order it. Most places if you ask for mid-rare still serve it well done, but not at Midtown.Check it out.
It’s all good. The midtown is much nicer now that they have moved down the street. The best pub food in Atlantic Canada can be had here, including wings, fish, boiler dinner, etc.
