Minato Sushi. I was there with three friends for dinner this past Saturday evening. The service was less than capable, and the upstairs room exceedingly cold (we had to keep our jackets!!) That could be explained by the fact that staff seemed to forget there were clients on the second floor. A polite request for adjustment of the heat was met with shock. The server wasn’t sure what she could do, and then never returned to let us know if we should expect to dine with our coats and scarves on. The food, for each course, was served at different times. You got to watch your friends eat, then fifteen minutes later, switch up the roles.I don’t expect to be there again (certainly not before warmer weather!!)

I live this place, I go there at least a month and get vegetable dragon roll. I just love the sauce they put on it.

Nothing special. The sushi here was alright, but nothing special. We found other sushi places in Halifax to offer a better selection of fish and maki. If you’re only in Halifax for a short time, I’d skip this one.

A great experience.. Some friends of mine recommended this spot to me after I had a less than stellar time at Hamachi. The old building is beautiful, and tastefully decorated. The service was great, our server (or servers as they later informed us worked as a team) made good suggestions, and made sure we were well taken care of. We were going to sit upstairs but it was so chilly up there we moved down to the sushi bar as the tables were full downstairs. Our server apologetically explained that the building is old, and the upstairs doesn’t keep heat as well as they’d like it to. Sitting at the sushi bar was actually really fun! We got to watch the sushi chef hard at work and got our food really fast. This was amazing considering how busy it was. My boyfriend and realized there was only two of them working and felt bad for them. The food was spectacular, we got a veggie dragon roll, a spicy salmon roll, a spicy tuna roll, a korean dish named Stone BeebimBap and a tempura appetizer for under 50 dollars! Overall I give this place a 5 out of 5. I will be coming back for my veggie dragon roll!

I’ll start to say that the food was quite good, however, that is the LAST good thing to say about my experience. The rest of this review will be a tirade. We went for my brithday, and the service was less than expected. The restaurant was less than 1/2 capacity and they attempted to place my party of 6 at a table for 4; a table that was a tight 4 to begin with. Before we placed our order, we asked to be moved over to an ajoining table of suitable size and the server rolled her eyes and acted like it was a huge problem. Then when they served us, one of the servers brought up our dinners, before they were finished. She looked at the plates and told us that she did not know what they were. The second server came up, delivered our apitizers and told the first server to take them back. When leaving, we said our goodbyes breifly at the door and one of the servers gave us the evil eye from the back of the restaurant. The food may have been great but I strongly doubt I will go here as my first choice. A good server can make your dinner, two aweful ones can ruin a birthday

Loved the sushi! Finally a decent sushi place in this town. Had the dragon roll which was great and the spicy tekka was super spicy and yummy. The Alaska was fresh and full of avacado plus great service and nice restaurant inside. Will come again.
