My go to place for pub grub and drinks after a long day at work! The daily happy hour from 4:00 pm till closing is swell! They also serve great chicken wings and nachos.

Not well managed – dont go after work. On any given friday (and possibly throughout the week) from 4:00 to about 6:30 -7 pm, Niche is half empty, at time when many after work people want to meet friends for a quick drink or two, a snack, and leave. However, the staff almost always say everything is reserved, even though the place is empty of customers, as they will tell you they are waiting for their evening reservations to arrive. I am a businssman in my mid 50’s and have run a restarant before. What waste and suboptimal way to run a business! They are loosing money because they dont know how to manage their business and keep the place full all of the time. In addition, the staff are not pleasant when you come in without a reservation in the late afternoon; you have to plead with them with assurances that you will be out before the reserved tables are needed about 2 hours later. On a couple of occasions where I have pointed out that some of the empty tables have reservation times that have lapsed (in one case by a full half hour), they would still not give up a table in favour for the customer that wouldnt even show up.Niche is not a high end restaurant. Its mostlky known as a cheap beer and tapas joint. I dont get the impression they are trying to be pretensious by turning people away, but the staff lack a hospitality industry training, and they really dont know how to manage thier potential and the customer experience is poor.Good thing there are so many other good choices virtually next door (Spring garden Rd, Barrington St, Argyle st and Historic properties.

This place us just great. TNT burger and 1/2 price apps rock. Salads are huge, service is prompt and friendly.

Staff were great. Atmosphere fne. Other than the fact that down the street you had to pay 5 dollars an ounce for steak, I would not recommend this restaurant. I ordered the strip with peppercorn sauce. Steak overcooked and the peppercorn sauce was like salty canned gravy. But, I did not spend 5 dollars an ounce for the steak. It was like a decent meal at a relative’s house. Ask yourself, would you want to pay for that?
