First visit. A wonderful authentic Japanese restaurant. Everything was well prepared. The salad dressing was very smooth and tasty. The miso soup tasted fresh and definitely not from a package. The omakase sushi offered a terrific variety and was very good. I had an opportunity to sample some udon broth and it was flawless. It was fresh and tasty without being salty. I definitely would return. A great find in Halifax. 90%
Best sushi restaurant east of Montreal! Authentic and fabulous.
Classic sushi done amazingly well. There is no better tempura in town than Shige’s. The rolls are not trendy – no cream cheese or mango on the menu here. Instead, the maki uses large portions of equisitely fresh fish, avocado and the best spicy sauce in the city. it’s not flashy, but it is the best.
Sushi Shige has moved! Back in Halifax for a visit, and of course must go to my favourite shushi joint. Shige relocated here in February, and is now just between MEC and TAO on Granville. The location is a wee bit austere, with minimal naturall light-nothing like the previous SGR people watching spot. Oh well. The food however is the same fantastic Shige. Best sushi in town.
Sushi Shige is by far my favourite Japanese restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of dining in. The fish is always fresh and packed with flavor, and their veggie rolls for those who aren’t into raw fish are delicious. I have yet to find a better sushi pizza or spicy salmon roll out there. Speaking of spicy…. The spicy sauce used by Shige is deliscious and one of a kind as it does not overpower the flavor of the fish. I find most other places in Halifax have spicy rolls that pale in comparison. The restaurant is moving to a new location and will hopefully be officially open this month on granville st after some delay, January 2011. I can’t wait! I highly recommend all sushi lovers in Halifax to try Shige when they reopen, trust me you will not be disappointed!
Awesome. I would have to say if you try nothing else, try the sushi pizza. It is the best of any sushi restaurant I have ever tried!5 Stars
