Some dishes were ALMOST good. After walking around downtown Halifax for hours, we stumbled upon this little restaurant. The location, decor, and menu looked promising at first. I ordered their white-wine mussels and their ‘Goggle pizza’. Other members of my party ordered the lobster Mac and cheese, and the avocado and bacon eggs Benny. We also tried their smoothie of the day – I can’t remember what was in it. Blueberry, pineapple, mango? I don’t know. But it tasted like a milky, powdery orange juice. After complaining about it, they told us they used almond milk. The powdery taste made sense. But it didn’t explain why it tasted like orange juice. No one drank their smoothies. The mussels were HUGE. Almost uncomfortably huge. They were over-cooked and falling apart. Their wine-sauce looked like merky after-shave water, and tasted like wine boiled with garlic. The mussels were very fishy. Like licking the bottom of a boat. The goggle pizza which had mayo, bacon, marinara sauce, and cheddar cheese was VERY good… Except for the dough. I was able to eat about 2 slices (very thin crust) with the dough. And then finished the rest of the pizza by just eating JUST the topping. The flavour combination of the pizza toppings was lovely. The dough was like a burnt whole wheat pita. Man, they almost really had it there. So damn close lol The lobster Mac and cheese had generous amounts of lobster and the cheese was delicious. Unfortunately, the dish overall was salty. They almost had it there as well. The bacon and eggs Benny was meh. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. It tasted like someone followed a cookbook recipe of a hollandaise sauce really well and whipped together some bacon, poached eggs, and avocado. I would almost recommend the place for the Goggle pizza. But that dough (if you can even call it that) needs to go.
