I love pairing a delicious cocktail with a mouthwatering dessert at The Middle Spoon. This matched with knowledgable and lovely waitstaff, and a really warm environment makes for a great date night.
I frequent this establishment and I am in love with the sticky toffee pudding and the kale salad ! The environment is inviting and clean with friendly staff and always delicious cocktails.
Went to this establishment on a very rainy day after a small meal at another establishment. The place is filled with unique pieces of furniture. There is a mix of lounge chairs, bar seating and regular table seating. There is plenty of room as there is more space in the basement. I went with my wife for dessert. But they have a 3 course special where you can pick any app, sandwich and dessert for $16.99. Unfortunately, they are not open for lunch, so ideal if you in for a light dinner or snack. We ordered the cardamom carrot cake and my wife had the lemon tarte. I also order a spiced cider that went well with the carrot cake. The cardamom was in the cream cheese icing and kind of overwhelmed the carrot cake but it was unique I just couldn’t taste the carrot. It was also served with a sorbe on the side which helped to cleanse the cardamom taste with every bit. My wife’s dessert was not to my liking as I do not like meringue or tarte tasting food. The tarte was served in the middle of a meringue with whip cream and fruit. I personally would never order this, so I let my wife have the whole thing. If you like berries and tarte desserts it is a good choice. Serve was good and I enjoyed the decor and music. I do agree it is not for everyone and you may pay more than your used to from a dessert place. But it has it’s niche market, and if your looking for a chill, interesting place to hang with friends I much do enjoy this establishment and would come again.
Delicious and great selection, but overpriced.
We had the Lava cake and coffees with Baileys. Both were fabulous!! Service was attentive and friendly. First GREAT cup of decaf I’ve had. 2013/04/27
Dissapointing. Heard great things about this place, but was very dissapointed with my experience. First of all, the waitress didn’t even want to serve us because we were underage and had to be out by 9 in accordance with liquor laws. Understandable. But it wasn’t even 8 o clock! For the remainder of the evening she was very short with us as if we did something wrong, and it reflected in the service as their was no quality check, or even napkins to the table after we asked for some.The worst part is, I wouldnt even consider the desserts mediocre. Especially for the heavy $11 price tag! The torte had no flavor except a hint of espresso, and I could have made a better sunday at home- would have thought the brownie chunks in it would have been good– tasted like they came out of a box. Avoid this spot if you can. Great atmosphere, but service and most importantly the desserts are seriously lacking
