Food very good however starter plate special Meta plate can be shared but only comes with one piece of pita bread. Charging for an extra pita bread cheapened an otherwise great meal.
Authenic. Great food and atmosphere. The rice reminded me of the rice my grandmother used to make who was born n Turkey. Staff are very friendly as well. I will visit everytime I go to Halifax!
Fantastic. I had the most wonderful meal here. Succulent lamb — the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant (and I’ve had plenty).I am still dreaming about the mezza plate. Nice atmosphere. Great service. Highly recommended!
Authentic!. Warm, friendly and attentive service. I agree with a previous review: food you enjoy, and dream about having again as soon as you leave! The dolma (stuffed leaves) tasted as wonderful as the ones I had in Istanbul. All the other appetizers were absolutely delicious. The moussaka was simply amazing, it melted in your mouth. Everything about the food here is delicious. I really look forward to going again on my next visit to Halifax!
I’ve been here twice and both times left feeling completely satisfied. This place makes the kind of food that you absolutely crave and think about when you haven’t even been there for a while. Right now, my mouth is watering just thinking about their yogurt kabab! If you like Turkish food, head to this spot. It will not disappoint. Oh, and the service is great – excellent atmosphere!
Good Food, Friendly Service. I’ve eaten at Cafe Istanbul twice; once on a Saturday evening with a friend and another time alone on my lunch break. Nonetheless, both dining experiences at Cafe Istanbul were great. I’ve had the chicken kabob platter (salad, vermacelli rice, the grilled kabob and two dipping sauces) and the other time I had the chicken wrap with a side salad. My only complaint is that the second time around the grilled chicken in the wrap was charred and the yogurt (tatziki-like sauce) was runny. Otherwise, the service was friendly and fast. I like the food here better than Turkish Delight.
Good food, but that’s about it.. I will say that the quality of their food is good.However, Cafe Istanbul has become horribly overpriced. Who charges over $12 for a wrap at lunch? Not to mention that it was the tiniest wrap I’ve ever seen? Over prices, small portions and I’ve repeatedly had exceedingly slow service. I won’t be going back anymore.
