Went with my mother and was very disappointed. It was during the week for breakfast and the service was terrible. Very slow and a long wait yet the place was less then half full. Food was OK but my mom kept having to help herself to cream or sugar etc. Since the waitress was hard to find. So many better places in Halifax. I say avoid this one.
Good food, bad service. Last Saturday my wife and I went and ordered a meal and appetizer. We arrived at 4:30pm since we had skipped lunch that day. The waitress was friendly. It took half an hour to get our appetizer, and almost 40 minutes to get our meal after the appetizer. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy and people who arrived after us were eating their meals before we got our appetizer. The waitress offered us a free dessert (which we did not want to wait for. We were ready to leave.) The waitress discounted our bill by $10.00 when we received it at 6:00pm. We’ve been to Kempsters before on a Saturday with the same type of service. It seems they have a hard time getting their act together on Saturdays!

I don’t know what the earlier reviewer was talking about by saying the patrons are all old. Perhaps he was 12 and his parents wouldn’t let him have an orange pop
Selection. The selection is hugh servings are large, not sure in todays market if you can be all things to all people and when you attempt such a big selection quality may suffer. We go every Sunday after service and the staff always goes out of there way to support
Sunday Supper. We had a wonderful supper, great food and excellent service. The place was busy but the staff were efficient and the food delicious.
Avoid. A tired old carvery filled with tired old patrons.
