We visited on a beautiful Friday afternoon for lunch. The shaded patio was so inviting we couldn’t resist. The prix fixe lunch was our plan. I have to advise..this is not a lesser choice. Expect an ample and sumptuous lunch. Our server started with different breads which we all enjoyed. My meal began with their daily soup offering despite the heat of the day. It was a creamed eggplant with smoked cheese. It was lovely and I could have stopped there and been satisfied…but I didn’t! My husband and friend ordered the salad option. They both seemed pleased. For our main course I chose the Manitoulin rainbow trout. It was exceptional, flaky, moist with a delicately crisp salted skin. The small pea falafel was interesting but not the best complement in my opinion. My husband and friend chose Cumbraes meatloaf. I asked my husband if it was prepared in some unique way or traditional home cooked meatloaf. He said it was the latter. They were both pleased with their choice. It was served with wispy onion frites and fresh green beans.Dessert consisted of creme brulee or corn cake with spiced ice cream. I chose the creme brulee and thoroughly enjoyed its rich creamy texture. My husband and friend opted for the corn cake. They both gave positive reviews and enjoyed the spiced ice cream. All the dishes were beautifully presented and the server was lovely. Their garden patio was serene and idylic. It was a leisurely lunch that was more than 2 hours. I left feeling quite stuffed and content.
Went here for my birthday dinner last night . I eat out a lot but save these fancy smansy places for a special occasion.Atmosphere- White on white classy. Chandeliers, white linen, fresh flowers and comfortable chairs. I think there is one extra table than should be in the space but it did not deter from our experience.Food- We started with the bread plate. It was all served warm with room temperature butter which is the best way to serve bread. There were miniature puff rolls, spiced bread sticks and caroway bread ( perfect amount of caroway Goldilocks) We didn’t get a picture of first serving because we devoured it so fast because it just tasted so good. I did get a picture without the puffs and sticks. We chose the Wednesday Prix Fix menu. With my daughters and I we tasted everything there was. Appetizers 1) fried calamari with oranges on a nice sauce.- Loved the combination of mandarin oranges and the fish. 2) Celery root soup with bacon and pistachios- Fantastic 3) Red lettuce salad with goat cheese and pomegranate seeds with a raspberry dressing- Scrumptious, The dressing was light and sweet perfectly offsetting the pomegranate seeds. After appetizers they served a muse busse of a tiny square of ham with a sauce and dried pickles beets- Loved the sauce and dried beet chip , not so much like for the meat. Mains- 4) Rainbow trout- 2 large pieces and so tender 5) Beef brisket- melt in your mouth . My daughter was caught dipping her finger in the sauce after everything was eaten just for that last drop. 6) Duck confit leg- Perfect. This was not greasy and the meat just fell off the bone. All these dishes were plated with a variety of sauces ( duck had a lovely sweet sauce that performed a symphony in my mouth when combined with the meat). My dish was also served with fried kale which was to me a good try but it did not quite hit the mark. Desserts included: 7) Grilled pineapple with candied apple shards, coconut balls, and sesame ice cream. They even put a candle on the plate for me. Wonderful everything except the sesame ice cream. That was awful. Maybe it needs an acquired taste ( like liver and brussel sprouts) I would have left that out. 8) Creme brule- Both daughters said this was the creamiest they have had.It came with a very tart lime sorbet – One daughter loved it and the other did not like it at all. My one daughter and I prefer to have nothing offset our sweet in our desserts. We did have to wait so long for the dessert to be prepared that we had finished our tea waiting for it. No mention for a top up when we asked for cold water. The tea was very weak so I was not planning on buying another tea bag for $3. After dessert we were served rhubarb macaroons with apricot cream and cashew chocolates- What a nice touch.Service- Outstanding from the hostess greeting us and refolding our napkins every time we went to the washroom and silverware replaced after each course until the dessert was served. They did not ask for a refill on tea but that is really a minor detail.Impression- Bill came to over $200.00 with no booze so price is steep. I love the place but I am sure my pocketbook will not allow another visit for at least another year.
The service and the atmosphere are really spectacular here. Having said that, our food was just ok. My husband ordered the venison and it was extremely tough and we expected more for a $40 plate. Portion sizes here are extremely small…but if the food is good, you don’t mind so much. The food was very underwhelming taste wise…it looked like a work of art…but I’d rather have tasty food. We would only go back for drinks perhaps on their patio because of the atmosphere solely.
The food and service are incredible. Every time I come here it is an awesome and delicious experience. They do gluten free and are aware of food allergies. Excellent wine choices to! Love the style, plating and thought that goes in to every dish. @bex carney
Quatrefoil is a lovely treat for a special occasion. The meals are always beautifully plated & perfectly prepared. The service is excellent and the atmosphere appropriately formal. The only drawback is that this is a very pricey experience, and so is one that we reserve for celebrations. It is however, our first choice among the restaurants of its caliber in the area.
Superb!. Our family enjoyed a special evening at Quatrefoil and could not be more impressed. The staff are very professional, yet the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The food presentation is a work of art, and the food is delicious…5 stars! The Carnahans
