Better than Fancys. We uses to go to Jimmy when open and it was always between fancys fish and chips across the bridge or jimmys. We usually chose j immys becuase his oil and fries much better. Fancys tried again after jimmy shut down complete let down and thier halibut was fresh and much more over priced. So we tried chois fourth time back. Great portions for family sized meals and they substitute if u ask 🙂 remember fish is deep fried im batter I worked in a fish truck for a couple summers . And if you order and wrap it to go in a box where it steams the fish batter will get chewy and harder. Its best to eat your fish battered and fresh or atleast within a reasonable time frame if u order to go and its a drivel like me now I put it in the oven to crisp I p that little bit again and its perfect. Wpuldnt ask for better ! Always good service and good priced for fish 🙂 and ice cream after always a bonus 😉 see yah next week chois!
Rip Off!!. Always went to Jimmy’s. Tried for the first time under new ownership (Chois). Picked up halibut and chips 5 minutes after ordering. Fries and fish were cold and chewy as if they were microwaved. The piece of fish was the smallest portion I’ve ever seen. Extremely disappointed and will never go back. I’ll stick with Danny’s or Captain George. Hot, fresh and generous portions.
FANTASTIC. I think it was the owner (Mrs. Choi?) was working when I went. She thoroughly explained to me how their fries are made (they hand cut fresh potatoes and fry them in canola oil) she said that they change the oil very regularly because she wouldn’t serve any food that she couldn’t feed to her own kids which I thought was very thoughtful. I ordered the poutine. They also use fresh cheese curds and it was probably in the top 3 best poutines I’ve ever had
Not Good. Mind you the night we ordered we had a very big snow storm in Barrie, however when I requested debit for our delivery I was told they could not guarantee their 30 minute delivery because they had only 1 debit machine. When the man did arrive, close to an hour after ordering, there was still a $4 delivery fee and still of course I tip. But the food was tasteless. We order one fish & chips, 1 single fish and a caesar salad. By the time it reached us, it wasn’t hot and needed to be nuked. Fries were bad, the batter on the fish was soggy, the halibut was dry and my boyfriend couldn’t eat the salad because it was just cloaked in dressing which had turned the lettuce soft (should have been on the side) Thank goodness for the tarter sauce, otherwise there was no taste to anything. Not worth the close to $40 I spent.
Great service and food!. I came to Barrie to visit my parents and took them to Jimmy’s Fish N Chips for dinner. The service was wonderful and the halibut n chips I had was one of the best ones I have had recently. For dessert, they had about 20 or more kinds of Kawartha Dairy ice cream (my parents loved it) as well as some amazing home made gelato (for lactose intolerant people like me!) The overall quality of food and service was very satisfactory and I would definitely come back next time I am in town.
Best fish and chips ever. Best fisha nd chips ive ever had…at a reasonable price too! (around ten bucks). Solid service, fresh, great atmosphere. will definately come back when I am back in Barrie.
