Easy breakfast place just off the highway. It is a old school dinner with TVs on almost every table playing family friendly movies. Breakfast was good and the service was great.

60s atmosphere, basic breakfast with great milkshakes for a very decent price worthy to make you come back weekly. Given that most breakfast places serve traditional breakfast, this is where I would come.

Enjoyed our time here. Food was great, it’s not a five star restaurant people, it’s a diner. But it wasn’t awful. Service was lovely and it was cool to sit and check out the decor and watch the retro movie beside you (Aladdin was playing when we went haha). Would return.

Back to the Future. The only thing retro about this place is the decor. You’d expect all the food to be prepped on site but most of it is factory processed and cooked from frozen. I suspect they flash cooked my burger in the deep fryer. It had no meaty taste or texture and it took three napkins to soak up the grease. I could tell the bun was thawed as it was very dry and crumbly. The only redeeming points were the fries and fresh sliced tomato, onion and lettuce.I also tried the open face roast beef dinner. Again the roast beef was factory processed. It came in micro thin slices and smelled and tasted like it was pickled in brine. The veggies were stone cold. The one dish I’d recommend (that I’ve tried) are the bacon and eggs. They are very generous with the hash browns. I wouldn’t recommend the sausages. They appear to be reconstituted globs of fat inside a casing. I couldn’t detect a speck of meat in them.I wish they wouldn’t try to compete with the fast food chains. To me ‘Flashback’ evokes memories of fresh food cooked from scratch. I’ll give it a 5 out of 10 since I feel this restaurant could be so much more.

Was not worth the money eggs were way undercooked and the fruit salad was canned fruit and the pancakes were undercooked and soggy

Love this diner – so good. I was treated to a brunch at the Flashback Diner in early November 2013 and it was my first time there, as a newcomer to Barrie.I have been to many retro-style diners that were very good but they were all contrived and created. This diner may have been but it didn’t feel like it – it had the vibe of the real thing with a number of obvious collectibles and most of all great food. The pancakes were real pancakes, like you make at home (not the over-mixed rubbery kind) — the portions were generous and completely related to cost and the sides were really delicious. I wanted to go back before I left 🙂 and I will be returning many more times, this time with friends. Thank you, Flashback Diner. Places like you keep it real.

Excellent Brunch. The stake and eggs were perfect and the flapjacks were excellent.
