This place must have gone through a major staff overhaul or new management because the food was awesome. Service was a bit slow but we were out for dinner and chatted the time away anyhow. The place was jammed and the two servers did an amazing job keeping up. I had the Chicken Green Curry it was delicious and my wife had the spicy Shrimp Pad Thai. Appetizers we had crispy spring rolls and salad spring rolls both great. I hope this review keeps people coming back because it’s nice to have restaurants that aren’t tied to that big brand name and crappy warmed up foods.
Couldn’t agree more with all other negative reviews . I am not exaggerating but this is the worst Thai I have tasted ever in my whole life . Ambience and iterior was nice but who cares about that when food is sooooo lousy ????I have traveled to Thailand more than 200 times , even the lousiest Thai street food was much better. Even I can cook better Thai myself.Ordered Shrimp cakes , Pad Thai spicy , and beef red curry .All three were tasteless. Red curry was yellow but you can’t even call it yellow curry . Clear the cook/chef has no clue what he was cooking . Some people have mentioned good food on lonely planet but I wonder whether they have any understanding about Thai cuisine at all.Staff were rude , we were the only non – whites , so they treated us differently . Cheap plates , rude body language by the middle age lousy dressed stewardess . ( there were only two females , other one was old )I saw neighboring tables were served with fancy plates.I am sure the food was loaded with MSG , we both were feeling uneasy and vomitish after the meal.I would not recommend the place to anyone nor I would ever go there again. !
Extremely rude service. After reading all the reviews so far…I have a feeling that the management at the Green Mango Tree doesn’t read their reviews, otherwise they’d be clamoring to fix things.This place was our go to place for a dinner date. We tried all the Thai restaurants in Barrie but kept coming back to this one as our favorite. The food is really good and the portions are very generous.However we always found their staff, including the guy who looks like the owner very unwelcoming and extremely rude, not just to us but others as well.Last night was our last visit to this place…they were rude as usual to the point that we were completely ignored, my glass was dirty, it had another ladies lipstick marks still on the brim. I had asked for my soup to come with my husbands main course so we could eat together..yet the soup was the first thing they brought me…and my husband ended up eating alone while I was waiting for me.
Wow, that was BAD…. I think it’s the worst food I’ve ever had to pay for. I got take out for the first time & at first glance, it seemed like a nice, cozy little spot.I ordered the pineapple chicken fried rice tonight. They don ‘t say the rice seems to be fried in about 8lbs of butter, because that’s all I could taste. (When did Thailand incorporate butter into their ancient art form of cuisine?). My rice dish was an almost fluorescent yellow, as though the culinary Gods were highlighting my bad decision. The 4 sporadic chunks of what seemed like canned pineapple cleansed my palette of the thick, buttery paste-rice, while the small amounts of shredded dried chicken would get stuck in my teeth.Save yourself the time & money. Finer cuisine sits just a few short kilometers up the highway in the Royal Victoria Hospital cafeteria.
It’s not what it once was. I’ve loved The Mango Tree since it opened. My favourite dish is the Cantonese Chow Mien. It used to be so delicious! I think they finished the noodles in a wok so some were crispy…yummy. I had this today and it tasted boiled. Mushy noodles…no taste…all the protein tasted boiled. I was so disappointed. Not sure I’ll ever go back.

Over an hour on my delivery when it was quoted at 40 minutes.Pad Thai is awful, all spice and the shrimp still has the tail on and tastes like it was microwavedSpecifically asked for no onions or peppers with my soup and they gave them to me anyway.Rude on the phone, kept cutting me off when I called to ask why it was taking so long. I understand you can’t always be exact on times but I figured they could at least answer as to where the delay was coming from. Great food. Horrible prices. Try the duck squares if you love paying through the nose for a small but tasty appetizer.
