Change of staff. The restaurant has changed owners, new menu and new staff
As a long time, loyal customer of Ling’s, I was looking forward to trying out their new, all you can eat, lunch menu. Sadly, however, I was very disappointed. It was explained to us before we ordered to only order 6 item at a time (per sheet), but that you can fill out as many sheets as we liked. Food started arriving promptly, and as per usual, was quite tasty. We filled out our second sheet that was collected by our waitress and then received our second ‘course’. We filled out a third sheet, that sat at our table, next to our stack of dirty dishes, for at least a half an hour before I got up and asked for the bill. While we waited for our third sheet to be collected, our waitress and others past our table multiple times and looked the other way…it was a concerted effort to ignore us. I suppose our 12 items was ALL that we could eat in their opinions. I am thoroughly disappointed!

Extensive asian menu in Barrie. Atmosphere: The dark brown decor was inviting. I’d say even the manilla paper used on the tables makes it unique. There was a sushi bar in the dining area where the chef worked. —-Cleanliness: Washrooms were really clean, along with the dining area. —-Service: We were one of 2 tables at the time so the server got to us fast. She was nice and gave us time to peruse the HUGE menu.—-Food: The extensive menu had Chinese, Thai and Japanese items. It will take you a while to decide. It would be awesome if they had Vietnamese pho too to complete their menu.We tried the:Dim Sum Platter – not that great. Seemed to be small frozen dim sum bought from a store. Now, for Dim Sum is Barrie it was a welcome sight.Seafood delight noodles – you get a choice of noodles here. We chose the Shanghai noodles. The broth was plain tasting, but light. The seafood seemed to come from frozen as they were small and dry.Ling’s Tofu Hotpot – excellent flavour. Light enough to bring out the flavor of the ingredients. The sauce was uneven as there were curds in some parts.—-Overall: A great addition to Barrie. I hope that they use fresher ingredients considering the price we pay. Having such an extensive menu doesn’t make up for the average food.
Fresh, Authentic, Fantastic!!!!. Party of 2 and we shared the shrimp and chicken pad thai ($10.99), red curry chicken ($9.95) and szechuan beef ($10.99). The portions are huge and the flavours are out of this world. It’s by far the best thai food we’ve had in Barrie. We compare this to our favourite Thai restaurant in Toronto which is hard to beat. I’m looking forward to going back for their sashimi expecially the sea urchin and more chinese dishes. Love the variety! Was suspicious of a menu that had 3 cuisines but the thai food we had was executed perfectly!!!
Ling’s is an excellent place for Sushi, Chinese and Vietneamese. Although it is a small restruant it does not come short of quality. After you go there a few times the staff gets to know you and they will remever what you like and don’t like. In all of Barrie, this is my favourite place to eat.
