Disappointed in service. Having moved from London to Barrie, I was quite excited to see that Marble Slab also made the move here. No lie their ice cream is delicious..HOWEVER..the store’s hours are not reliable. Several weeks ago my boyfriend and I tried to stop by for ice cream and showed up approximately 15 minutes before the store closed (and by closed I’m referring to the handwritten sign amending their traditional closing time to accomodate what I can only assume to be slower periods in jan/feb…)…The door was locked, and even though someone was clearly inside and saw us (and if the manager is reading this was a blonde girl working Feb. 3) and did not even have the decency to offer us any sort of explanation, after we had specifically made the 20 minute drive to Marble Slab. If you want to close early because business is slow, fine, but at least tell us something like sorry, it was slow, so everything has been put away and the store is closed. I really rate customer service highly and will not be making the trek back to Marble Slab again. We ended up stopping at Zehrs and bought a whole tub of ice cream and mixins for much less than the cost of MS’s overpriced Ice Cream!
Slow but worth it. We needed a treat on a Sunday night and I was really glad we came to the Marble Slab. They are a little slow and pricey for ice cream but the quality of ice cream they serve and the service more then makes up for it. It was a little disorienting for the uninitiated. You first choose a base flavor from the freezer then they take your order to their marble slab and add a mixing (a topping) of your choice. The mixings are fresh and the ice cream is excellent. The choice of flavors is a mix of creative (peanut butter and jam) to the classic. If you need a sweet treat this is the place to go.
They’re slow because it’s new, it’s a time consuming service as is any ice cream parlor but they have to go the extra step and mix in your favourite things.. Takes a bit to get use too but great once you do. It’s worth a shot!
