It’s alright.. I ate here only once and had the fresh tortellini. They raved about their home-made hot sauce so much I was excited. When I got the pasta, the tomato sauce was watery and tasted like vinegar, as the hot sauce was heavy with it. The interior of the restaurant is very welcoming, but the outside looks like the place has been closed for years. Walking by it many times over the last decade, I thought locals were using it as a free parking lot. 2/5
Veal Parmigiana sandwich. Everyone I have told about this sandwich loves it just as much as I do!! I like mine with peppers and mushrooms and a little hot sauce mmmmmm!10 May, 2014The best thing about Ninos is that it hasnt changed in years. They still seeve the same pasta and pizza that I remember from going here years ago. This is not fine dining Italian so if you are looking for modern day fine Italian this is not the place however if you just want some of the best old school Italian family restaurant food then your exactly in the right place. I highly recommend the lasagna, canneloni, chichen parmigiana and not to mention the best meatballs in Barrie! The waitresses are always friendy and the bread they serve hot out of the oven make waiting for your meal a pleasure. This simple heartwarming comfort food Italian so if you looking for upscale Italian this may not be the best place for you. Great pizza too!!! My staff go crazy when I order Ninos pizza for them an I have to say simple is good when it comes to this pizza as its the only pizza I enjoy with just cheese and pepperoni. I have been a customer for years and love that there are still family retaurants still putting great food made fresh like Nonna’s!
I agree with the previous reviews. I found the pasta overcooked and the sauce mediocre when I ate on site. I’ve had it a couple of times after that as take out because I lived around the corner and needed an easy fix. Perfectly suited for college students without kitchens or cooking skills.
After several years we had the opportunity to revisit Ninos remembering the reasonably priced homemade delicious fare prepared and presented with genuine old world Italian hospitality. This is not the same restaurant. The warm authentic atmosphere is gone. We were seated with only two other tables occupied around 7:30 on a fri night! The layout is almost cafeteria style. The food was unremarkable and overpriced. The whole experience was flat and a far cry from the establishment that Nio once operated.
Too bad!. I had been going to nino’s for many years, when nino was actually in the kitchen. The food was amazing, the prices were amazing and it felt like I was going home to eat at my moms on a Sunday afternoon. We moved out of the area a few years ago and we were in the area and decided to go have some great food, we were horribly disappointed. The food did not taste the same, the sauce was too sweet, like it was from a jar, the gnocchi (which was my favorite, large hand made, just the right texture) were tiny, doughy, and were clearly not home made. It’s unfortunate, that whoever is cooking in the kitchen doesn’t have the same love for cooking like Nino and his wonderful family had.
Way too overpriced for what you get.
