2018/07/19Four of us were heading north for the day, and we stopped at Sunset Grill in Barrie for lunch. The restaurant was less than half full when we arrived shortly after 12:30. SWMBO and her mother ordered the Tuna Salad Sandwich, which was piled high with tuna, and had plenty of home fries on the side. The home fries were nicely done, with good caramelization on many of the bites. SWMBOs sister chose the Sunset Sandwich, which included peameal bacon, fried egg, and cheddar on your choice of bread, along with home fries. A very Canadian sandwich! My meal was the Sunset Omelette, which was filled with diced peameal bacon, shredded Swiss cheese, and sliced tomatoes. No complaints. A hearty lunch had by all.
This place is just your average ‘greasy spoon’ with average food & service; Pricing is modest. Make sure to bring a change of clothes with you as the open air concept kitchen will stick to your clothing with a heavy smell of cooking oil.

Have only been for breakfast … served all day … so worth it … 5 stars
Breakfast was good, coffee was great. Fast breakfast!
It’s a quick service breakfast joint. Nothing to get too excited about, but also nothing to sneeze at when you’re just looking for a simple breakfast. Eggs, omelettes, bacon, sausage etc. etc. Eggs and omelettes are cooked to order, the breakfast meats are not – they’re pre-cooked and sit on a warming rack above the grill. Not ideal, but quick. Nothing is exquisite, but nothing is awful either. Coffee is ok, and OJ is tasty. 2.5/5
I didn’t enjoy my experience here. My friends and I went on a busy Sunday morning. We were a group of 5 and the waitress forgot to take one of my friends orders, then when asked to be on separate bills she made a comment about how we were really making her day! I ordered pancakes without whipped cream, it showed up with whipped cream. Our meals were good, nothing fancy.
