Disappointing. This restaurant came recommended by pretty much everyone we talked to. My husband and I went there Saturday night and would never go back. The service style was loud and very casual, and seemed out of place at a restaurant with this kind of menu. The service was also just generally poor – it was slow and inattentive and after our waiter ignored us on three passes by our table when we were clearly finished with our meals, I finally had to flag him down to clear our plates and bring our bill. The food was also generally poor. We both ordered steak (two different menu items) and found them badly flavoured and the texture strange. Totally disappointing in every way – we were hoping this could become a local favorite.
Best steak in Barrie, OK service. Had dinner here last week. Took about 10 minutes for someone to get our drink order. It was 50 minutes before we got appetizers. Ordered crab cakes and lamb, both fantastic, albeit pricey ($18 for 4 lamb popsicles). For mains had steak, which was fantastic!! Thick, juicy, cooked to perfection. Total was around $180 for 2. I would eat steak here again!
My fianc and I went to Urban dish for the second time to celebrate my birthday. The manager happened to overhear that it was a special day, and went out of his way to make our dining experience extraordinary. I had a few questions regarding the nature of how the food was created (ingredients, timing, etc.) and he asked the chefs to join us table side to explain ingredients and the method/process for creating one of the sauces used in the dish. They had removed a previous favorite appetizer from the menu and offered to make it for us. In addition, at the end of the meal, they created a special dessert just for us. It was BY FAR, the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The attention shown us that evening was exceptional, and the food delicious and delightful. This was only our second visit to the restaurant, we do not know the owners, but on this night we felt as though we did. Great atmosphere, TALENTED, creative, and passionate chefs, and an attentive manager- that’s a recipe for success. We will be back soon! Thanks Urban Dish for a fantastic dining experience!
Expensive. Server was very LOUD and woke our child up. Did not accommodate well to vegetarians. Food was decent but probably will not return.
Just Say NO!. We found this place during a Barrielicious event shortly after it opened. It was a fantastic experience not just for Barrie, but for TO, LA, SF, anywhere.Second experience a few months later was average.Third visit was a complete failure on their part. Most of the items we requested were unavailable, excuses galore, terrible service, etc. And, it was/is overpriced to be polite. Go to the DQ next door. It sucks to have a shining star in the limited market of good restaurants in Barrie go downhill so completely and quickly. How it remains open is a mystery to me.
