Left A Bad Taste In My Mouth. Went there with a large group of friends for dinner and for the most part everything went ‘OK’. Wings we ordered as an appetizer were good and my burger was above average in taste and size, but the Caeser salad they brought me instead of fries was an absolute joke. I wouldn’t consider it to be a decent size on a kids menu. I told the waitress right away about my concern and she said she would let the manager know. I ordered a side order of fries(not my normal choice of side) to fill the hunger gap left by the ‘quarter meal sized salad’.When I received the bill there was no apology and I was charged for the fries. I paid and tipped the waitress fairly (not her fault) and told her why I would never be back. I usually go there once or twice a year in a large group. I can’t remember the last time I ordered any meal (I try to eat healthier) where I needed to substitute out fries for something else. So, to my complete surprise, this tiny bowl of salad was a joke. The waitress called the ‘manager’ over. I have lived in K-W all my life, I knew that the ‘manager’ was one of the Aldy’s family, the owners of the Huether. He tried to blame it in the chef and his ‘meal budget’ per meal. He offered me a discount or a gift certificate for his restaurant. The price of the fries was not the issue, and the gift certificate won’t help as I will never go back, I wish ‘the manager’ would have taken charge of his place and offered a concrete solution and been honest of who he really was. I got the feeling from the tone of his voice he was just giving me lip service and nothing will change. There are other restaurants in K-W with good beer and good food, for a reasonable price, that truly put their customers first. The Huether is NOT one of them and I will tell everyone I know, not to bother as I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Went there this past week, it was a date night with me and my wife(went about 9:30). The fell of the inside bar had a good feel to it nice spot to cone and unwind after a hard day of work.(looked like most of the staff dose the same thing think I counted about 4 cooks at the bar). The drinks came out fast after we got are menus I got a pint of wheat beer and my wife out there new barley ceser. I have been a fee times before and looks like the menu has been updated With new add-on, mostly smoked foods( smoke pork and brisket as well as cheese) the other new thing was there TVs had a 24/7 barley works fed .For the food we had the new pulled pork tacos to start, good tacos for a bar nothing out of the box’s but pork had a nice kick to it with a hint of beer in it. The food came out fast about 7 mins ( was brought out to us by one of the owners himself) after that we got are mains the wife got the blacken chicken pasta well I tried there smoked pork chop( the nights fetcher) my wife’s food was good nicely grilled blacken chicken on pena past with roasted red peppers and there peco and browned cheese. My pork chops I was told was made by the 1st cook. I was quiet happy with how it came out. The pork chop came out with a double stuffed each baked potato with cooked onions and fresh herds inside the day veg with baby carrots with brown butter and honey gazed with a touch of heat and on top of the pork chop was a cranberry salsa ( I know sounds funny but it was so good). My wife was wishing she order my food as it was so much better then off the menu. I will be going back soon and often if you do come to the huether ether the loin or barley works I said ask for the daily fetcher, I must say the 1st cooks there should be helping with the new menu
Pleasantly Surprised, Leaving Satisfied. I went into the Huether Hotel for lunch with my boyfriend and friends today. Everything was great ! On previous visits the service had been less than spectacular but I was very impressed with the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, not the mention the speed of delivery on food and drinks.. The patio was quite busy with larger groups but our food came out in a timely manner. The new menu items were a treat. I had the Cajun Chicken Four Cheese Penne Pasta, and my boyfriend had the Smokehouse Burger. If you havent been in a while definately go just to check out the new menu items… Its worth it !
Unbelievably bad…don’t go. Went for a drink and we ordered 2 bottled beers. It was definitely not the bottled beer that we ordered although it came in the right bottles. It tasted exactly like their local brewed beer that they encourage people to order on tap. What kind of restaurant pours a different type of beer into a beer bottle and serves it to customers?!?!? After taking a few sips we asked the waitress to replace our bottles…no luck, she said she couldn’t do anything about it…worst experience ever, don’t go here.
A lot better than it used to be!. I’ve been here a few times in the past several years – with friends, rarely of my own choosing – to find below average service and fairly plain pub food. Barley Works wasn’t the kind of place I rated highly. This past week I came here with a group of friends and – to my surprise – the service was actually good. Really good! Our waitress was funny, super attentive , very friendly, and an awesome host. We had the party pack of wings with ‘Dessert Heat’ dry rub – the menu has a few spelling errors that are just plain hilarious – a Pitcher of Irish Cream Ale and the Panko Calamari. Our food was very flavourful and was brought out quickly. On top of this, I went to pay and was told they’d finally started taking debit cards! I’m surprised to say I have absolutely no complaints. I hope this wasn’t a fluke of a night because I’m considering coming here more often.
