Good, but used to be better. I love the Ben Thanh in Waterloo – the food is fast, the staff have always been nice, and I seldom get any mixup on what I ordered. That said, I used to adore their Pad Thai and was very disappointed with the dish the last few times I’ve ordered it. Enough so that I’m unwilling to try again – I don’t like paying 10+$ for something that tastes like it was made with ketchup. That said the food is still fresh and tasty, and acceptable. It used to be spectacular however. I’ve heard the Cambridge location is still so.
Love This Place!. I have been here twice and everytime I leave, I am never dissatisfied. I love all of the food that is available here; there are tons of items available on the menu that it is hard to choose what you want! We were settled promptly when we arrived and given menus. Our waitress, Joey, was really nice and courteous. She apologized for taking too long to bring the tea cup which wasn’t a problem at all! The cheese wontons are to DIE for! They are very tasty with just the perfect amount of cheese and sweet dipping sauce. After about five minutes of us finishing our cheese wontons, the chicken pad thai arrived. I think this place has the best pad thai I have ever tasted; it is so tasty with just the perfect amount of chicken and it stays hot (temperature wise) forever! Definitely love this place and will for sure be back! By the way, all of the Ben Thanh locations are the best; I can’t complain about any one of them.
Yum!. I don’t leave this restaurant with regret, so that’s great. I also come back… and often… which is a rarity. If you’re looking for Vietnamese/Thai food within the KW region, this is probably the place to go. The food is pretty great, the staff are friendly and they’re always playing the Backstreet Boys for some reason. It’s a nice casual environment for hanging out with friends and not bad for getting takeout either. The pad thai is the best I’ve been able to get from restaurants within the region and I think that’s why I like it so much. They chuckle a little when I ask for even more limes and peanuts but always oblige. I like this place a decent amount and go there often. I recommend it over other pho houses (Pho dau bo, etc) without any hesitation.
Delicious Tom Yum soup. A sure fire cure to any cold.
Prefer take-out. The food is good. however, the place is busy and the staff and kitchen are very disorganized, so service can be frustrating.
Great food but they need to serve tables together.
Used to be a great restaurant, but they seem to have let success get to their head. Now service is usually poor, kitchen is slow, and the dining room is messy. Go to the Cambridge location instead.
