We came here for the Monday burger special, which was an awesome value ($4 for burger and potato chips, with a drink purchase). The burgers we had (1 regular, 1 portobello mushroom) were good, but nothing special. For $4, no complaints. We would have preferred to have fries than potato chips but the chips are pretty good.We had some churros after dinner which were underwhelming– the churros were not that soft or warm, but had good flavor. If you come for one of the specials, you’ll get a great deal and some decent bar food.
A hidden gem!. Ethel;s Lounge is one of my favourite bars in town. A totally hidden gem, but it’s not for everyone.First – their food is fantastic. Their Rajah – oh, you have not lived until you’ve feasted on their delicious Rajah! I could lick the plate upon finishing it – it’s that good! The vibe there is easy going – you’re good if you’re dressed up, you’re good if you’re dressed down. Awesome.Ethel’s is a place for friends to gather. The servers are fantastic at keeping track of tabs, and, though service may not be what some people expect, it’s part of Ethel’s charm – and keeps the patrons who frequent it honest and down to earth people. Love Ethel’s!
Sub-Par Tapas. I have a feeling that other items on the menu are probably better than what I had. I couldn’t decide what to eat so I ordered the tapas platter. It was pretty gross, only thing sort of good was the pulled pork quesadilla, however, all of it made me feel sick. The antijoija (? I don’t remember the exact name, cream cheese roll-up type things) was super mushy and cold, on the menu it says it is supposed to be lightly grilled, but what I got had never come into contact with any kind of heat. It was just bleh and not that cheap. If I was a local I would probably give it a second chance, however, I will probably never step foot in Ethel’s again, so they lost their one chance to impress the DeWitt. Thumbs down.
Thumbs down to Uni kids.. This place is a classic! But… go in the middle of the school year for their famous Taco Tuesday and you will be swarmed with university kids – and they can really ruin anyones mood. Great food and awsome staff!
Anijitos are unreal, the Caesars are delicious 😉 awesome vibe. Try going on a Tuesday for tacos!!
A Go To Spot. The servers are a bit laid back, however the meals make the Ethel’s experience complete. No fries on the menu is a bit of a let down, but many of the menu items do make up for it.
Always a good time!. Laid back with a great atmosphere, this isn’t a fine dining establishment so don’t expect it. What you should expect is great food and service. I’ve never encountered any negative issues with the staff and the food has always been fantastic.
