Used to be our favourite Chinese food restaurant in Waterloo region. NO MORE!!. Our experience started off poorly when the waitress couldn’t be bothered to take us to a table but instead just pointed. There were several empty tables but it seemed like she didn’t want us to be seated in her section. The food came out fairly quickly and we think it was because it was reheated. The chicken fried rice was dry, the bbq pork was dry and the chop suey bean sprouts were soggy. The entire meal was disappointing. The waitress showed zero interest in us until the bill was to be paid and then she was all over us. I don’t know if there is new ownership or management but this place has gone down hill fast. The decor has always been kind of run-down but not it seems run-down and dirty. We will never go back. We used to rave and recommend the Kam Yin but no more.

Absolutely Awful service and mediocre to bad food. Went there as a family first time and received an awful service. There is this waiter – a bold guy in his 50s, he was very rude and unprofessional!!! When we wanted to ask a question, he gave us a cold shoulder and didn’t even pay attention as if we were beggars asking for food. He was sort of a racist, he was all smiling and sweet with European looking people, but when we wanted to ask or say something he was short and rude. I am definitely not going back there anymore. And don’t recommend to anyone else. Food is rated as mediocre to bad. You can find better Chinese restaurants with better food and WAY better service!!!

Terrible service. Ordered the food by phone showed up and it took an extra hour for food to be ready.saw many people come and go with no explanation from the restaurant. Never ever going back there. They didn’t even throw in a sorry!!!!!!!!
Best Chinese food in KW no doubt. I love it.
I’ve lived in waterloo my whole life and kam yin is by far the best Chinese food in the area. They also have really cheap lunch prices.
