Had the curried chickpea and veggie roti, and it was just ok for me. A friend with me had the chicken curry with a similar result. My girl had the chicken pad Thai, and it was excellent. So, kind of a mixed review overall.
Bad service and experience. Just a plain bad experience. Waiter was terrible and twice forgot to bring my drink (which never came!), and then tried to include the price on the bill. Portions were very small and also overpriced. Not looking for huge portions but I just felt there was no value for the money, left hungry. Pretentious, will not return. I can make better vegetarian food at home for a third of the cost and feel full.
Will Definitely Be Back!. I had visited this restaurant before and loved it, so I decided to go back again. I was definitely not disappointed! The atmosphere is very relaxed and quaint, with local artist paintings and pillows. The food is delicious! The chicken quesadilla tasted fresh and tender. The venus dip was UNBELIEVABLE GOOD!!! I have never tasted a dip as good as the venus dip, I ate the whole thing it was that good! The service is excellent, they are very attentive and kind. I love this place and will definitely be back!
One of the best restaurants in Kitchener-Waterloo. Don’t be misled by the unattractive plaza surroundings and the unusual lay-out of this excellent restaurant. Last week was my third time at the Raintree Caf. The atmosphere is young, a bit offbeat, certainly casual. Yet, it is sophisticated enough for a special occasion. The butternut squash soup is divine, as well as most of the pasta dishes. Service is friendly and efficient. I recommend not sitting by the door during the Winter (it’s freezing). And if you choose to have dessert, ask for a regular spoon. The restaurant advertises tiny tiny Korean porcelain spoons good for eating peas one at a time. Terribly frustrating. This little oddity aside, this place is splendid and I certainly recommend it.
The best Ceasar salad in Waterloo! If you are an uptight person who likes casual fare, this is not for you, however, if you are more open to new tastes and ideas than you’ll love it. My all time favorite local restruant.
