let me start by saying I have been frequenting local since it opened. Its music and atmosphere always outshine the service but my visit this past Saturday was undeniably the worst service I have ever received in the city. Our server was welcoming at the beginning, we were a group of 7 who were casually drinking and eating tacos. My second drink of the evening from our server was a vodka soda, now I know this is not a complex cocktail but when it was delivered I tasted something off. When I told our server, she was very stand offish and insisted if she had another made it would taste exactly the same. Now I know vodka, and I know soda and this tasted like gin, human error, no big deal. After having to ask a third time for it to be remade she sighed, visibly annoyed and brought me a new one (still about 15mins later). When this was finished I ordered a third with a fish taco, both never came after 40 minutes of waiting. At this point I spoke to a manager who said he would be taking over the table and ensured we would have good service the rest of the evening. When my taco was then finally ordered and brought out, I STILL DID NOT HAVE A DRINK. I was still waiting for another, as were the majority of the people I was with. For the last hour of service the manager took over the table, until 2 o’clock hit and he was no where to be found. Our previous server continued to ignore our table and give us dirty looks while we tried to get someones attention to pay our bills for OVER TWENTY MINUTES. We sat until 2:20 am with no drinks or bills in front of us. Finally the manager came back and printed what we assumed were our bills, expect everyones was entirely wrong. My friends had all their drinks mixed up, extra food on seats, etc, and no one had switched spots or moved seats the entire night. It should not have been that hard to keep it all in order. By the time the bills got figured out it was well after 2:30. I must say the manager was apologetic but there comes a point where you cannot make up for how badly a server served and treated a table. My friends and myself were left with a disappointed experience and will not be returning any time soon.
Went here for drinks on a Saturday night. Super packed but was able to find seats as friends and I arrived around 9 ish. Music wasn’t super loud which is a huge annoyance when you can’t even hear the person next to you. Definetly a younger crowd when it’s late at night. The beer is very decently priced, 5.50 a pint. Didn’t personally order any food, but a friend got salsa and chips which was tasty. The fish tacos looked super good as tables all around us were ordering them, only 5 bucks a taco! Their patio is gorgeous at night and worth a visit to during the summer evenings.
Was there in early May for dinner and really enjoyed it. The vibe was excited and the beer was great; discovered Blanc du Chambly, the best hefeweizen east of Portland Oregon!Food price, value and taste were excellent and would have given them full marks except the food took a little to long to get; which resulted in drinking more than I should have.Now one of my favorites in Ottawa.
We really enjoy that place. The food was excellent especially the tuna sandwich , very tasty . The service was very very good. Very polite and smiley . We enjoy our night out.May/14/2017We went for breakfast and had the egg sandwich and this plate is succulent. Again as previously written the service was very good.
Fun place to meet up with friends for a beer and appetizers. Centrally located at Lansdowne, it has the best patio. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Good food and lively atmosphere. It is a busy place so be warned!
I was a bit skeptical coming to Local since I thought it was going to be a box-chain experience. Let me tell you, I was horribly wrong. This place is off the hook. First off the decor has got this funky-bar feel to it and its jam-packed. The staff are all knowledgeable, friendly, fun and attentive. The food though….was….drum roll….ABSOLUTELY DOPE-ALISHISH. I love burgers and this place honestly hit it out of the park. I got the Bourbon Burger with a side salad. The burger paddy was seasoned to perfection and cooked perfectly – it was juicy, moist, delicious. One thing that often gets overlooked is the bun. This BUN was rocking good. It was some sort of artisan-crisp-fluffy-bun that perfectly complimented the burger. There was this sweet-relish-jam that also came with the burger that completely elevated the taste to a whole new level. The side salad was surprisinly really good – only complaint was that it was small and came in tea-cup (I wanted more).Lastly, we ordered desert which were churros. Every time I’ve had a churro I’ve never been impressed. Always the same experience, fairly dense doughy-deep fried sugar crusted stick with chocolate sauce. But man. AGAIN. HOME-RUN ON THE CHURRO TRAIN. These puppies were fluffy, dusted with cinnamon sugar, and when you bit into them it was liking biting into cloud of heaven. The chocolate sauce was rich, came with marshmallows, and ample in supply – it was awesome.Overall I would HIGHLY recommend coming to Local. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and fun staff. You will not be disappointed.
Terrible service. Waited for over an hour and they forgot about our food. Mix up when there was a server switch at our table. A small apology and nothing else (all the while the server who took the order sat at a table right across us munching out on her own wings) Colossal waste of our time. Wouldn’t suggest it to anyone…….seriously McDonald’s has an upper hand for a date night
