Maverick’s is alright, but I wasn’t really impressed. The store is a bit small, but well laid out (though I wish they had a coat rack or something, as there really isn’t anyplace to put one if you don’t feel like wearing it while you eat). I was really excited to try the lemon ricotta donut, but just found the lemon too overpowering and the donut too rich. Though it wasn’t bad by any means, it just wasn’t great. Their coffee was fine, but I ordered a latte and I swear their was no milk in it. They also have mugs, but didn’t offer me one despite asking if my order was for there or to go. The prices also aren’t great, kind of expensive even, all things considered.

Best donuts in town and freshly baked with the option to customize your own toppings. Even though they are a bit on the pricey side it’s still worth going there.

I finally got around to checking out Ottawas newest donut show Mavericks Donuts which is owned by 5 local businessmen. Mavericks Donuts makes a variety of specialty cake doughnuts, but one of the special features of this restaurant is the ability to make your own donut! When making your own custom donut you get to pick your icing youd like (chocolate, maple, vanilla, and caramel) along with the topping (sprinkles, Skor, Reeses Pieces, Kit Kat, peanuts, M&Ms, Fruit Loops, Oreo cookie crumb, sea salt, and marshmallows). There also are a variety of signature donuts to pick from including waken bacon (bacon with maple icing), cherry cheese cake (cherry glaze over cream cheese filling), chocoholic (chocolate donut with chocolate glaze), PB & J (peanut butter and jam filled), crme brle (pastry cream brle sugar), and lemon ricotta (lemon filling with citrus glaze). When I visited there also happened to be a special red wine and blueberry donut too! stephaniewhitetravels.com

I am sorry to say I was very disappointed , I wanted to like the donuts as this place is in my neighbourhood . But all of the donuts were underwhelming and something I completely did not expect was not using real whipped cream but instead a really nasty, cheap oil based topping. Will not go back.

DON’T TRY IT!! DOES NOT COME EVEN CLOSE TO SUZY-Q!! Comparable to tim’s but with more updated topping. Staff handles donuts without gloves while handling money…and phone! Feel sick

Good donuts. They are very much aware of when a donut is going to be too much with a topic so they make them a good size according to what they are topped with. Only complaint is the jelly on the top of the pb and j was not great but peals off easily making the donut more enjoyable.

It’s a nice idea with the build your own donuts and a convenient location for me. The donuts are smaller than Suzy Q and not as light or fluffy. There are only a handful of ready made flavours available, so if you’re looking for the gourmet donut experience you may be disappointed. My father and husband prefer these to Suzy Q, whereas myself and others I know are Suzy Qers hands down. I find them too dense and small. But I’ve been in a few times for the location and to buy them for others. It’s a cute shop, but in my opinion their donuts should be bigger and there should be more options in terms of flavours/kinds.
