Although it is sometimes quite difficult to get a table at, their food is worth the wait and effort! The oysters and the crab cakes were particularly notable to me as they are consistently fresh and delicious, but none of their dishes have disappointed me. Kind service (even though it’s busy!), tasteful presentation and amazing seafood makes this place worth the price and continued visits.
I’ve been here 3 times with my boyfriend and each time we’ve been really pleased with the entire experience. The first time they were heavily booked but we were able to sit at the bar which was really nice, other times were were seated at a table. The calamari is so good, not chewy at all! Mussels are always fantastic and the pacific halibut fish and chips are amazing. Boyfriend had the oysters last time and while they are really good he wished there had been a better variety of hot sauce to pair with them. Service is always pretty good given how busy it was the first 2 times we were there. We love Pelican and will definitely keep returning for the amazing seafood!
I have only gone here for the sunday brunch, it is soo yummyyy. Consistently always delivers. I always get the lobster benny. Love the whole dish. And the homemade ketchup!
I have been here before and enjoyed it however not last night. The service was great no issues but the cost has gone through the roof! The cheapest main on the menu was $20 and way up from there. I had shrimp and chips and my wife had the seafood stew. The shrimp was very good but only received 5 with a small plate of rewarmed skinny fries that looked like they had been sitting all day. Not impressed for $20! My wife’s stew was a average portion but not for the $30 it cost. The broth while reasonably tasty was too watery and a lot of potatoes. Definitely not worth $30. Our bill came to $100 and we were not impressed. I have spent that much and less around town in other seafood restaurants and walked away very satisfied. Not here! Over priced for the quality and quantity of food! Wont be back unless there is a complete re-do!
Over several years, and after a well executed renovation, we keep coming back to arguably one of the better seafood restaurants in Ottawa. Crab cakes are a staple for us and always accompanied by flavourful sauces. I have tasted better fish batter (i.e. in fish and chips meals) over time, but rarely tasted better fish. A very reliable restaurant with excellent, attentive service.
Husband and I had a dinner date here last night. Service was friendly and neither too fast nor too slow. Oysters, fish tacos and escargot appetizers were all fresh and delicious. Husband’s seafood stew was divine. Can’t recall having tastier mussels and the fries were perfectly cooked and salted. Will definitely be back!
One of my favourite places in Ottawa. I’ve been eating here since I was little and am always happy with the food. Definitely worth visiting.
