NASTY!! DISGUSTING!! Save your money, and eat at the mall, much better chinese food than this.. If you like cold, hard, grease laden Chinese food and management who doesn’t care then this is the place for you! The chicken balls were the size of my fist and the chicken inside was the size of my baby toenail. We complained and management said the best they could do was 20% off and smirked and told us to have a good night.
What happened?. We have bought take-out from the Torbram location for over 20 years. At the time we told people it was beautiful ,fresh, huge portions and resonably priced. BUT the last few times 1. greasy 2. orders are screwed up, got a phone from the restaurant saying half our order was someone’s else and to bring it back because cashier gave us the wrong bag ok ,But this order screw up thing happened more than twice !!!!!!! 3.RICE TASTES LIKE ITS HAS BEEN REHEATED ALMOST BURNT. like baseball 3 strikes I AM OUT!!!!!!!!!never again!!!!!!
Low Expectations. There’s nothing really wrong with Golden Palace. It’s just another Ontario Chinese food buffet place. The restaurant itself is presentable. But surely this can’t be the best that the area has to offer. Given the location and the limited demand for this cuisine in the area, I guess good enough will have to do for ‘good’.Lemon chicken-in-a-blender swimming in generic lemon goop just isn’t my idea of fine Chinese eating. My $5.50 cocktail was inexpensive and tasted it. Incorrectly made, I left it standing on the table. At least the buffet price at $14.95 is reasonable.I’ll continue to look beyond the Golden Palace and the Mandarin next time I get a Chinese food craving.
This is my trusty local Chinese food joint. The place is sooo beautiful and classy after Everything is tasty and fresh. And even their fried items are not too greasy. I like their pepper squid (calamari) and i always order their mixed vegetables (i wish they didnt pit so much celery and buck choy stems, but still good). Ive only done the buffet once, I always do take out. I am always pleased with their food and service.
Great food and great value. My wife and I get take out from Golden Palace often and have never been disappointed. If you like lemon chicken, which is my wife’s favorite you should definitely try the lemon soo guy. While they are both good the soo guy is much better imo. The only item we were not impressed with is the spare ribs. We often spend around $25-30 on a fried rice and two entrees and usually have enough left overs for a meal each or even three lunch servings. We did the buffet once and while it was good I feel the take out meals have been much better. They will say ready in 15 minutes but they are almost always ready when I show up in 10 minutes or less. Lately we have gotten a free vegetable fried rice with orders of over $25 but don’t know the specifics with that.
We had take out this evening from their Steeles/Main St. branch – very disappointed. The egg rolls lacked content and consisted mostly of bean sprouts. The Szechuan beef was lacking just that…beef! The tofu in our vegetable dish tasted sour suggesting it was it not fresh. On the positive side, the Cantonese chow mein was acceptable and the food was hot when we decided to dig in. I won’t be back…I’d rather go to the Oceans grocery store across the street…they have a decent meals to go section.
It was pretty good except fried rice was really dry, also the spare ribs were really good.
