2017/11/19We were heading back from our weekend away, passing through Brampton, and we stopped at China Palace for dinner. Modern dining room, clean lines. The restaurant was less than half full, and head a steady traffics of customers picking up phoned-in orders We started out with a small bowl of their Shrimp Hot & Sour Soup. It was big enough for the two of us. This soup was one of the better hot & sour renditions that we have had in a while. The broth was thick and filled with tofu, bean sprouts, egg drop and of course the shrimp. It hit the right sour and hot notes, leaving a light, pleasant burn in the back of the throat. We chose Beef with Broccoli and General Tso Chicken as our main dishes. At other, similar restaurants we often add a small dish of plain steamed rice, but at this restaurant they include a small steamed rice with each main dish. The beef was tender, the broccoli had crunch, but the sauce was just okay. Not too memorable a dish. The chicken batter was okay, but the dark brown sauce was a bit too think and sweet for my liking. Service was cheerful and polite.
