I don’t know how this place is still around. I guess people will settle for whatever. The ONLY reason I used to go here is because it was close to my house and very cheap and I was young. I’ve tried the sweet and sour chicken balls (chicken piece the size of a of chocolate covered almond covered in dough the size of a large golf ball), the chicken wings (like oil dipped in oil) and the sweet n-sour spare ribs (tiny pieces of pork with fat that was oily) and it wasn’t good. The fried rice was bland and oily and the eggrolls were oily. If I didn’t know better the pop would be oily as well. Overtime the stomach says no more. When you get older and travel around you see there was so many and WAY better options. The worst American style chinese food i’ve ever had…..
Old food. We ordered bbq pork which was ok but seemed a little dry. Beef lo mein which I liked but my husband hated and said the noodles were too soggy. We also got general taos chicken. It wasn’t spicy and it was cold.Actually the biggest complaint about the whole thing was it all tasted like it had been sitting out all day and it was cold. The service was fast and the people friendly but the food was not great.
I will NEVER EVER eat at this restaurant again. The food is total crap. I bought a chicken/ shrimp fried rice there & I could not eat it. I got a box filled with SALT, MSG & RICE. A few little dices of chicken, only a few green peas for vegetable & a few over cooked shrimp. I had to work an hour to get the money to buy this food only to have to throw it in the garbage. This restaurant is NOT recoomended.
Black pepper steak? Black pepper meat loaf, maybe.. Ordered fried noodle lo mein, got plain crispy noodles. Ordered black pepper steak and what I got was frozen burger steakettes. Basically it was hot hamburger. It was disgusting, spungy and not eatable at all. I phoned over and spoke to the owner who tried to tell me that the black pepper steak was very popular and that I should like it because of its popularity. I asked him for a refund, as I had no intention of eating this garbage, but he refused, but thanked me for my input. Despite the pepper steaks’ immense stardom, I thought it was gross, greasy and barely meat. The dish was 13 dollars. I could have got the same meat on mcdonalds $1.49 menu. Avoid this place.
I’m usually pretty easygoing with a Chinese takeaway but I cannot recommend this place to anyone. If you like cheap clearly frozen egg rolls then you’ll like this place. It’s hard to screw up chicken balls and I thought I like them until I realized they weren’t cooked enough and way too doughy. Vegetable fried rice contained frozen cubed carrots and peas, you can’t make this stuff up. Fortune cookie was ok.
Best in Town. First off, let’s make it clear, this is a take-out place only, so the demeanor of the staff that serve is not really an issue any more than it would be at McDonald’s.Now, we have been ordering from here for almost 20 years. I can only recall one time when the quality was not exceptional, and that was on a holiday weekend. The food is customarily fresh and hot when delivered or picked up and the portions are appropriate, oh, and yes, verrrry tasty.
Absolutely worst Chinese food in Brampton, it is very hard to ruin a fried chicken ball, (it was tasteless and fresh!) somehow Golden Lake has mastered it
