Came here on my visit to toronto. Was looking around for Italian but came across this place nested between a few Indian style restaurants. (This area seems to have alot of italian or Chinese restaurants with an Indian twist). This restaurant turned out to be great! The items were pricey and if you don’t know how to use these kinds of menus you can be confused as it is the type of menu where you order dishes of different things- fried rice on one plate, sweet and sour chicken on another- each priced at about $10 a plate. So you will easily end up spending about $50 for 2 to 3 people. Plates are filled with good portions. Service was great as well. A 10% service fee is automatically included in the bill. Great food and service but again just a little pricey.
Just tried this place. While the food is good I’m not sure about dining in again. When you enter no one actually comes to seat you. You basically look for a free table and head towards it. The staff at the bar are busy with take out orders and are oblivious to anything else. I saw a couple come in and after standing there for five minutes left. The service is also different. We ordered two dishes but received one first and quite some time later the second dish came out. We asked for ice and had to do so three or four times before it was brought. The server didn’t seem like he enjoyed his job and was not very pleasant. Even after asking for take out containers they were not brought. Another server came over and asked us if we needed and brought them for us.I just have to say, you are in a service industry and treating all customers pleasantly and paying attention to anyone when the door opens will bring back repeat business unless you don’t need it.
CUSTOMERS BEWARE: Service charge added to billing. I have been here a number of times and I guess I never looked closely at the bill before. I also never read the full menu like a contract to see on the last page at the bottom where they announce this charge. No mention on it being in lieu of tip or anything so we do not know if the waiter even gets a piece of this or if it is just the owner wanting to charge 10% you for the privilege of dining in their, as other reviewers have stated, dark and Duruy not very impressive to look at restaurant. When asking the manager what it was for (manager hides behind the bar and is not very pleasant again as stated by others), we were told to have a table at their restaurant. We were also told this was common practice at most restaurants. Well I dine out about 4 + times a week at different establishments and have not seen a service charge. I have occurred TIP INCLUDED FEES but other than once that was usually with parties of 6 or 8+, Not 2 people. The food is good. Nice size portions. Although both of us had stomach issues 2 hours after dining there. Not sure if it was related to the meal or not. Sad thing was we did enjoy their food but there are plenty other Hakka Chinese restaurants out there. We know another one just not in that area that we love to go to with great customer service and amazing food. We will just go there for now.
They don’t listen at all. Ordered manchurian noodles but got simple vegetable noodles when told them that it’s not one that I ordered and the person keep saying no its same. Hate this.
Amazing food. Fast service. Better try it or you’re missing out.
Good but not exceptional! Standard Hakka Chinese fare – what’s commonly also known as desi (or ethnic Indian sub-continent) Chinese food!! We went on Sat evening for dinner. The place was busy so service was a bit slow. Food was good but nothing out if the ordinary. Ambience is very basic. Probably better to take out. I would probably return.
Delicious food but the ambience is not that great. My family and I prefer to takeout from this restaurant as their dishes are fantastic (especially manchurian chicken, hot & sour soup and vegetable manchurian chow mein) but don’t like to sit here and eat. Overall service not bad; sometimes the waiters are all over the place, especially in the evenings.
