We arrived very hungry and so opted for the buffet so we could jump right in. However, there was no naan out — it would be brought to our table we were told. So we filled our plates and waited…. Eventually it came: 4 modest pieces for 3 hungry people. It, and our water, was soon gone, and we waited to get the attention of the sole waiter, to ask for more, which involved more waiting, and then we got only 3 pieces! We asked a third time, but that naan never came. We got tired of waiting, finished our now-cold food without naan, and left. What’s up with rationing out the naan? And why not give a water pitcher for each table, so we don’t have to rely on a very busy waiter to eventually get around to filling our glasses? With tax and tip it amounted to $22 per person, which is very expensive for what we actually ate. Even though the food was tasty, the experience was bitter, and we will definitely never return.
Wonderful restaurant. I love Indian cuisine and the Taal Restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants that we have found in this area so far. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Always always yummy! Buffet is a great deal. Owners and staff are friendly and al around awesome!
Do Not Recommend. Food sucks does not taste like indian food
Great Food but lacks Customer Service Skills. We’re addicted to Taal, very regular customers, very good food. We often get takeout. Many times the Butter Chicken is not warm enough when it gets here. The food is so good though, that the not-hot-enough issue is put aside, although I’m starting to wonder how it can be anything less than piping hot if I have to wait for my order to be ready and then within 6 minutes it’s being served at my house…. yet it’s too cold. One time we waited literally and honestly 2 1/2 hours for delivery service to arrive. They use an outside service. I think they must have forgotten about our order. When I called and said it had been 2 hours, I was told it had just been picked up by the delivery service. (I hope the food wasn’t just sitting out there on the counter at room temp for 2 hours while waiting for the driver to show up??) But it still took half an hour even from then, to get to us (6 minutes away) even after the phonecall after 2 hours, so I think it was simply forgotten. No responsibility was taken for the issue, and they preferred to blame it on the delivery service. No gesture was offered to make up for the inconvenience to us of having to wait so long. Most places would give you SOMETHING to appease you for that 2.5 hour wait. When the driver arrived I asked what took him, he said, ‘what do you mean.. they call, I come’.. hmm.Since then, I now pick up most times myself (they also do not have interac unless you pick up, and really, who carries cash any more? If I have to go out to the bank to get cash, I might as well pick it up myself). Most recently, they forgot to include 2 out of 4 Keema Samoas. I called and they offered to ‘give me a free one next time’. (Free? When I have already paid for it without receiving it??) Most places would not simply give you what you already bought but did not receive, but would also offer a gesture of apology by issuing aNOTHER item, or a gift certificate for $5, or a dessert, or SOMEthing in addition to the item you already paid for, just for the inconvenience to their customer of driving there, paying for their order in good faith that everything was there, and then getting home to find their order was not complete. (Sure.. one of us will go without our dinner tonight, even though we paid for it, and we will be content with getting it for free NEXT time we visit? Oh thank you for your help!)I was so annoyed that I asked them to just deliver it. They finally agreed, saying that it would be delivered, but no idea when. (Ohh thanks!)Ok so rant is over.. food is REALLY good (if it’s hot).. they just seem a little scattered and disorganized, and lacking in customer service skills and traditions. When I was there this most recent time, there were 2 takeout orders just sitting there, waiting to be picked up and delivered by the delivery service. I think I’d rather be inconvenienced to pick it up myself and know that it hadn’t been sitting for who knows how long.Try the ‘Mango Fruit Cream’, it is heaven in a bowl, even if it doesn’t look like it.. and you can also get the same thing blended into a smoothie.. great taste, but you won’t want to eat your dinner, it’s so filling! You can choose to have your food mild, medium, or spicy. The naan is wonderful, but it tends to get very hard and chewy after sitting, even well wrapped, after half an hour after delivery, almost as if it had been microwaved. The location is an old ‘Harvey’s’ outlet. They have Indian music playing, which adds to the atmosphere. They have a bar and Indian beer, and a bowl of little candy-coated black-licorice ‘sprinkle’ candies on your way out. They used to have the cutest male server who was just always smiling with a wonderful attitude, but I haven’t seen him for months. Really miss him!If you haven’t been there yet, check it out for sure, and you’ll probably find yourself craving the food again.. and again.. it really grows on you 🙂 Just pick it up yourself though, and check your order before you leave!Oh one more thing.. if it is dark, you may drive right by, as there is no exterior lighting, even on the signage. Taal will hopefully invest in a lighted sign sometime soon!
Buffet dinner. We went here and we were a little hesitant After pulling into the lot as the place looks run down. However we saw a family coming out and we asked them how the food was and they said very good so we continued to go in. I am very glad we did as the food was excellent. Small buffet but the dishes were so flavourful and service was excellent! Will go again very soon.
Great Value, Great Products. Very good on tight pockets and quite delicious. You get quite a bit for what you pay!
