I had been going to Ola for about six months until I noticed and mentioned some of their questionable practices. I noticed that the prices that they tell you and display are not necessarily the prices that you are charged at the cash register. Also, that wearing one plastic glove while fixing your sandwich does not mean that they wont use the gloveless hand on your sandwich as well. When I mentioned these issues it was suggested that if I had an issue with their charging ethics and hygiene I should not return. I agreed and thought I should send a cautionary review for all. If you go to this restaurant/bakery be wary.
Most Horrible Service. The service is horrendous and rude at this Portuguese Bakery. The staff will blatantly give you screw face and yank things from your hand. I went in there quickly to check the place out and to get a drink. I realized I might need cash so I politely asked if the took interac. The lady said yes. But already looked at me suspiciously I ordered coffee and water as that was all I needed at that moment. I took my card out to pay and she rolled her eyes and said I’m gonna have to charge you 25 cents. I was like sure, that’s fine so she angrily grabbed the machine and practically threw it at me. She was visible annoyed. This was all in front of other people. Kind of embarrassing for me. I quickly paid and handed back the bank card reader again she grabbed it and yanked it quickly out of my hand. I found this even more rude. She did not look at me say thank you or anything. I would never go there again to try any of their baked goods. The coffee was mediocre.
Great pastries, unfriendly staff. I went to Ola a few weeks ago, and tried the eclairs. The staff were not friendly, but the eclairs were great. The custard, and the pastry were a perfect balance of sweetness, and the freshness came through.
