2016/06/16The only other time we were at The Firehall was when it was in the mall across the street. The new location is bigger and more open. When we got there for dinner on a Saturday, there was still plenty of seating. SWBMO chose one of her pub favourites, the Beer Battered Fish & Chips. One piece of crisply fried haddock, with fries and a very small side of coleslaw. The batter was good and crispy, and the fish was nice and flaky. I opted for the Southwest Salad, which came with grilled chicken. Generous portion, good Tex-Mex flavours. Service was good, but it did take a few extra minutes to flag our server when we were ready to pay.
Stopped in here for lunch the other day. The restaurant recently moved from the north side of Lakeshore Rd and it still feels like it, just not as worn lived-in and comfortable as the old location yet. I ordered the Greek salad and a coffee. The salad was just OK but the coffee was horrible. I think if I go back I’ll stick to the tried and true staple of this type of place and order a burger and a beer. Not great experience but I might return if I’m in the area.
