One of the best spots in Brooklin. Chef Melissa is amazing. You have to try the truffle popcorn, I have dreams about it. The menu changes often as it is all locally sourced. Everything I have tried has always been fantastic. Great craft beers on tap.
A hidden Gem in Brooklin. I have had the pleasure of eating at 1847 Wine and Beer Bistro on multiple occasions from the friendly customer service to the brilliance of the kitchen this Bistro is doing it right. I recently had the Parisian herb gnocchi in brown butter with patty pan squash. It was fresh fragrant and the brown butter sets it off just right. For dessert I had the baked chocolate mousse with coffee ice cream I’m pretty sure this stuff is the 8th deadly sin! When paired with there exceptional wine list or a slew of craft beers you really can’t go wrong with 1847.
Crappy Customer Service for Overpriced Food. Although at first glance this restaurant has a warm, welcoming feel, we quickly realized that they are sacrificing flavour and customer service for profit. We booked a business lunch for 3, and were seated quickly, but it took them 40 minutes to bring us our food (all we ordered were sandwiches and quiche!). The food looked like it had been slopped onto the plate, and the quiche du jour had no taste! The server gave my colleague’s sandwich to another customer, who smelled and touched it, and then tried to serve the SAME sandwich to my colleague! To top it all off, the meat in the sandwich was funky, almost as though it had been sitting in the fridge for too long. When we informed the staff, they argued with us and told us that it was probably the smokiness of the meat (trust me, I know what deli meat that stays in the fridge too long tastes like, and it ain’t smoky). Obviously they are understaffed and overstretched, and the people who suffer are the customers that have to pay 25 bucks for a pathetically underwhelming meal.
