What a refreshing experience for a fine dining restaurant in Whitby! Don’t be fooled by its location or outside appearance. The food is locally sourced, fresh and creative. If you want a cheap meal and a $5 Coors Light, go somewhere else. The prices are on the higher end but for good reason-there are so many interesting dishes to choose from, and the wait staff was incredibly informative and helpful in assisting us with our choices. Try this restaurant! We love to support local businesses and are so happy to live close by.
Overall the food could not overcome everything else. First impression was garbage pizza plates littered all over in front of the store. Even some un-eaten pizza on the ground. Clearly nobody cares about the first impression as you arrive to the front door. I realize that the garbage was front the pizza place next door. But the A Tovola Bistro clearly didn’t care either. The restaurant is small and the tables are crowded. Difficult to walk without bumping into other patrons. First of all don’t bring kids. They are not welcome. They do not have high chairs or booster seats and the kids menu starts at $12.00. We booked a group of 6 adults and two kids. Nobody mentioned that they could not accommodate kids. I had to go home and get their booster seats.I really felt like a nice cold beer. Only to find out that they only carry three different beers. Two Italian ones that we never heard of and steam whilstle. Disappointing. The menu was nothing exciting. We all had trouble choosing. Finally the food was good but not good enough to justify the price. The meal was expensive. Very expensive for what we got.
You have to try A Tavola!. What a welcome gift to Whitby! A Tavola Bistro is an amazing restaurant. Many restaurants have either good chefs, or good owners, or good service but the experience of all three in one location is unique. Chef Vito and his wife Aubrey have created the ambiance of sitting in a good friends dining room and being served over the top food. Chef Vito is passionate about his food and about your experience. His creations are not standard fare but creative and innovative. I just entertained 12 business associates in this restaurant and the feast that Chef Vito prepared exceeded my expectations. It is a must go to restaurant. Thanks Chef Vito for picking Whitby as your home for A Tavola. Well named!
Great food. I had the pasta putina with shrimp, cauliflower and chickpea puree and it was excellent. The pasta is homemade and the shrimp cooked perfectly. I’ll be back.
Excellant. Went for lunch with a friend. We had minestrone soup which was amazing also had Caprese sandwich with chicken on fresh bread. Will be returning again and again.
