So Much Yums!. I was brought here once, about 15 years ago when NRG was in full swing and we needed a post-drinking snack. When NRG closed, I forgot all about this place. I moved to Burlinfton about 4 years ago, and it wasn’t until about 3 months ago that I rediscoverd this gem of a restaurant! How fortuitous that I have a friend that lives almost right above The Pit? Fortuitous or dangerous? Hmm…I usually get the chicken souvlaki on a salad and oh my GAWD is it tasty! The tzatziki is to die for!! I have also had the foot long hot dog with fries and the chicken burger with fries. While not gourmet, as this isn’t a gourmet joint, it was all tasty! The fries are sooooo damn good! I have NEVER had a bad experience here. The staff are always friendly!Who has two thumbs pointed way up?! This gal!!
Landmark in Burlington. Classic. Sure the bugers are frozen. Sure the owners aren’t the same as they were when I was a kid. But they kept those fried onions (best burger topping ever!) there and the fries are top notch! Souvlaki is typically well done by a Greek cook. Friendly owner is working 16 hour days to serve you. Open REALLY late – best place to service the late-night bar crowd and there is sometimes a line up around the block at 2:00am. Don’t forget to order a Pepperoni Pizza (to which the owner will reply: $75.)
Try the pork souvlaki on a bun. Best in town!
The atmosphere is something to be desired but the burgers and fries are awesome!
Gross restaurant! I would expect somewhere called charcoal pit to have charcoal grilled burgers, however no such luck! Usual rubber like frozen burger patties, like honestly how hard is it for a restaurant to make fresh patties! Throw the grilled rubber pattie into a crusty dry bun and the whole thing was nasty. I did enjoy the hand cut fries though, Swiss chalet could learn a lesson from this place about fresh cut fries.
