Disapointed to say the least. Earl’s was one of our favourite restaurants when we lived in Saskatoon. They have over the past few years moved into various locales in Ontario. To say that the food and service is consistent with what we remembered would be an understatment. On a trip back from Toronto, we stopped in the Burlington location for a meal and had many disapointments. First, we were told we could have a table if we could eat in an hour, as they expected other guests at THAT particular table. We finished in our allotted time and when we did there were 8-10 other empty tables around us. The clam chowder was as I remembered, but I had to send for another spoon as there was some protein left on it from the last person that used it. My wife’s Mediteranian pasta dish was poorly cooked with many of the nooddles still fused together as if they had just come out of the package. The chicken wings we ordered were very small and more approriate for half the price they charge for them. (This was a Saturday, not wing Wednesday) I asked for a second piece of bread for my chowder and the waitress left, came back and said I would have to pay for it. By that time I was almost done with the bowl, so I said forget it. I felt it was somewhat incredulous, especially since they charge $3.10 for a Club Soda, which somehow turned into a Sprite when the refill came. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t blame the waitress for all this, but she does not know the type of tips she could be earning if Earl,s in Burlington was up to Western Canada standards. Oh yea….. the tip. Again, not the waitresses fault, but I had a pre tax bill of $73.40, plus taxes of $9.54. Custom in Canada is to tip on the pre tax amount. A 15% tip would have been $11.01. I usually tip 18-20 percent, but felt the food was not that good, so I felt the 15% was fair. I travel 3 to 4 nights a week for my job and have used many of the Veriphone card readers at the table and the tip has always been on the pre tax amount. At this Earl’s in Burlington, when I selected percentage as my method, it calculated it at 15% on the after tax amount of $82.94. Unfortunately, my bad…. I figured this out after I got home. Oh well, the next night I was at a Superbowl party…… great wings and many friends that will avoid Earl’s in Burlington.
Discovered last year. And already back three times. Can report that it is consistent. Who knew? After all they are in a darn mall! Anyway the food is good, full bar and the women oh so divine. Thank goodness my wife doesn’t have body issues. Love this place.. so NOT ordinary
Service was decent but the girls looked trashy. Veggies were soggy and were undercooked. Would not go back.
I had no idea what to expect with Earls, I’d never heard of it, I’m not from this area. Something seemed amiss when someone who looked like a 16 yr old pole dancer took our names for a waiting list. It only got worse when we were seated and as our server walked away I could literally see the bottom of her underwear. I’m the last person you’d call a prude, but the stench of misogyny and lateral violence in this place drove us out before we could even order. A restaurant should be able to stand on the quality of its craft- not the backs of insecure women desperate for a tip and even more desperate for a job where they’re respected instead of objectified.
Loved it. Well I went there with a few friends on a Friday night we couldn’t get a table so we were free to shop around the mall for a few minuates but when we got our food ( I had the Bronx burger) it was amazing and done to perfection the bill cam to about 100 with tax and tip for the 3 of us and the service was amazing
I had heard good things about Earls so i decided for a date my boyfriend and I would go. We got seated no one came to our table at all we waited for 10 minutes. Then a table of 2 guys came in and a server was with them within 30 seconds. being a server and bartender I was not impressed at all. will not return to earls again. We then went next door to Turtle jacks and had great service and great food!
