I had a take out sushi platter for dinner. It was very disappointing that rice of nigiri sushi was very dry and hard…it tasted like one day old leftover rice or something. Both sashimi and fish on rice had a fishy smell which means NOT fresh. I will never go back again.

I decided to spoil myself on a Sunday afternoon and look to eat someplace local that I’ve never eaten at before, so I came to Mikado. I was greeted as if I were an old friend when I arrived, and during the meal the service was friendly and attentive. I came for AYCE and it was the best of that type I have ever had. I find many sushi places seem to keep their sub-par ingredients for their AYCE, but not Mikado. All of the food I chose was absolutely exquisite, delightfully presented, and fresh; it was the best sushi I have ever had in the GTHA. I particularly enjoyed the tempura batter that they use, it’s very light and doesn’t overpower the food that it’s coating (or on the maki). And their deep fried banana is to die for, I almost didn’t order one to finish off my meal as I’ve been disappointed at other places before, but it was cooked just perfectly! An excellent meal all-around, even their green tea had none of the bitter aftertaste some green teas have.
