Stopped in to this restaurant at lunch. A good choice a classy quiet place for a slow lunch. I had the Italian sandwich with a Caesar salad, both were very good topped off with a great cup of coffee. The service was excellent and efficient. I will return one evening to try their dinner offerings.
Don t waste your money. Great ambiance when you arrive. Waiting at the small bar for our table…..absolutely terrible house merlot…no regular beer served…so guys….unless you are adventurous you wont find a beer you like. We waited 2 hours for our food….no explanation. …the food didnt come out at the same time and wasnt warm. Manager came over to ask how it was and we explained…she told us that it was a new waitress. We asked for our coats…she told us she didnt know what they looked like and told us to get them … and i found it pricey. Wont be back.
Definitely Not Worth The Money!. We had come here on a Saturday evening at 6:00 pm. I had called earlier to ask if we had to make reservations. I was told that in order to secure a good table, it was a good idea to make reservations however, there would always be space available. When we walked in, we were surprised to see that we were the only people in the restaurant, aside from the owner’s family which were dining in the private room at the back. I don’t know why we were told to make reservations but, they were definitely not needed. When we sat down, our server asked us if the surprise was still coming. He totally ruined the surprise that was coming in a few minutes! Needless to say, we weren’t too impressed however, we forgave him as we recognized it was an honest mistake. Our server asked us if we wanted any drinks to start off. He actually asked us a few times, which made us think that he was trying to get us to purchase drinks. We all settled with water except my father, who purchased one of the beers on tap. We then looked at the menu for our dinner options. We were very surprised to see that the dinner options were VERY pricey, much more than an average Italian restaurant. For the appetizer, we settled on the Fried Calamari with Marinara Sauce, which was listed at $16.00. We had hoped that since the price was so high, we would be getting a large amount of calamari. When the calamari came out about seven minutes later, we were deeply disappointed to see how little of the calamari we were actually given. It was quite good, but for the price, definitely not worth it!Next, we ordered our main meals. I settled on the Chicken Parmigiana with Penne in Rose Sauce, which was listed at $22.00 on the menu. My husband settled on the Ravioli Special, which included ravioli dipped in Alfredo sauce. My mother settled on the Risotto with Shrimp Special, while my father settled on the Bucatini Carbonara, which was listed at $20.00. My brother decided to get a personal-sized pizza which was actually quite big. As we waited for our meals to come, we were given a large basket of bread with butter, along with a bottle of oil that had previously been placed on the table. The bread was nice, tasting warm and fresh. As we were waiting for our main dishes to arrive, the man performing the entertainment began playing near the entrance. It was actually quite loud, and annoying as it was hard to hear the people sitting across from us as we spoke. I found that although the entertainment was a nice feature, when it got that loud, it became obnoxious.Once the main dishes arrived, we were surprised at how large the plates were. However, the items inside weren’t as large as we would have hoped. The piece of chicken that I received was large however, it was drenched in cheese, which ended up making me feel uneasy afterwards. The penne that I received had a great taste however, it was cold. The risotto was not tasty, with the shrimp tasting very bland. The ravioli were good however, there weren’t too many of them. The pizza had a terrible taste, and the Carbonara was too rich, even for my liking (and I usually like rich items). Not once throughout our meal did our server come to ask us if we were enjoying our items. We were surprised that he didn’t ask as he had come around to fill up our water glasses quite frequently.Once we had finished our main dishes, we decided to try our hand at dessert. We settled on the Tiramisu as it was a reasonable price (about $8), and we decided to split it. It was quite a generous piece, and it was delicious, not the best, but pretty good for restaurant quality. When we received the bill, we were shocked to see that the total came out to $160.00! For that quality and that quantity, we were surprised that we had to pay so much! On top of that, we were also asked on the bill if we could leave a tip for the entertainer, really, I’m surprised. We didn’t ask for that entertainer to be there, and we didn’t expect to have to pay for it either. We were surprised that we were served with such a hefty bill, for a place that we weren’t too impressed with. Needless to say, we will not be back to dine at this restaurant.
Tried twice won’t go again. Our family which lives close tried the restaurant a year ago. The food was undercooked on more than one dish. Recently we decided to try again. The wait staff was good and we liked the atmosphere. However the food was lacking again especially for the price point. Will not be back.
Music doesn’t add to the meal. I went to Nonna’s tonight with 3 other people. 3 of us ordered off the Prix Fix menu. The bread with rosemary that was brought to the table was fantastic. the flavour popped in your mouth with the rosemary. It was a great meal right of the start. The Caesar and chopped salads were both large and tasty. The Caesar had a lot of garlic which I love. Then the guy singing with the guitar started up. He could sing but it was too loud and not the genre of music I would like to hear when eating an Italian meal. (rock and pop- also a bit of Johny Cash) That is when the main courses came. My husband had the talapia and it was awful. The lemon taste was overwhelming and it was infused not only through the fish but everything on the plate from the vegetables to the rice. It turned him right off the rest of the evening. My friends and I had better luck. I had veal parmigiana, which was a little tough but flavourful. My friends had lasagna and chicken parmigiana with penne and vegetables. Both of which were said to be very good. The noodles and sauce was a little bland and extra parmigiana cheese wasn’t offered as most Italian restaurants offer on noodles. The vegetable combination side was good. We finished off our meals with a warm lava cake- excellent, carrot cake-excellent and a cookie ice cream bar- no complaints. The waiter we had was very attentive all evening. We will go again but for sure we will stay away from that lemon infused talapia dish for sure and we wont go when there is entertainment either unless the show suits the place.
