I discovered these guys at the Taste of Burlington Winter Launch and they completely won me over with their salmon dish – so I made a trip for lunch!Started with a very tasty bruschetta topped with roasted tomatoes, goat cheese and a balsamic reduction. I can’t tell if I was more in love with the flavour or the presentation – probably both since it arrived at our table looking like a star, beautifully put together. For my main, I ordered the special of the day – angel hair pasta with chicken and olives in a red sauce. Great portion size, great flavours and beautifully presented. Would love to go back to try the salmon wellington and more 🙂
I went here with my dining group after a hike in July. The patio is just darling. It has the interior walls painted to look like an English street. There was little relief for the hot sun and the table umbrella shuffle was performed throughout the meal. We ordered of the lunch menu. I had a quiche and salad. The salad had a nice vinaigrette and was presented inside a long strip cut lengthwise from a cucumber. Other items ordered were the burger and salmon. Everyone loved their meal. I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed because I had been here for dinner in the winter ( The interior is very charming with a stained glass window) I first came to this place after tasting their soup at the soupfest a few years ago. I remember it being fantastic. I would like to note one thing. We had a few hornets around us during the meal and one of my dining mates mentioned a large hornets nest on the faux buildings surrounding the patio. The waiter said they would have to bomb it to be rid of the pesky bugs, however, my friend did return there 2 weeks later ( because she wanted to introduce the place to her husband) only to discover nothing had been done about this. I hope no patrons had been stung in the mean time.
Warm atmosphere, great food, great service!. Absolutely delicious experience here! All food seasoned perfect, cooked to perfection and delicious! Well worth the price!Early bird special a great deal! Half price apps a nice bonus!Bruschetta with the roasted tomatoes and touch of goat cheese is just right, bit smokey, bit savory, and a creamy tang of goat cheese!Carrot ginger soup was velvety, not overpowering in carrot or ginger and a hint of dill tickles the palette! Schnitzel was impressive, crispy and tender. Pecan crusted salmon was juicy, sweet and the creamy pomade sauce made each bite rich and delightful!Dessert! So much to choose from! Lime pie and lemon cheesecake are refreshing, creamy and rich end to a delightful meal. Apple torte warm and smells of cinnamon sweetness!Even the bread, with olive tapenade, is warm and soft and much appreciated!Service is wonderful! Can see it getting loud on busy night, but atmosphere is warm, friendly, and serious about good food! This is now our new special night out spot! But we may find more reasons to eat here! I’m impressed!
Our Little Secret. My wife have eaten at this great little spot no less than ten times……and we love it. The food is always excellent and the staff is friendly and attentive. Its small and usually near capacity, but never to loud to have a quiet conversation over dinner (or apps and wine). If we are looking for a ‘guaranteed quality dinner’ out, this is our go-to-spot.
High quality, amazing flavor. Not cheap, but good value. HIGHLY recommend. Best restaurant in Butlington!02 Aug, 2012Best place to eat in Burlington! Not cheap, but well worth the price.
Loved it!. We went for our anniversary. The atmosphere was dim, candle-lit, and cozy, just as we hoped. We sat in an end booth with sheltered sight-lines, which felt intimate even with two medium-sized parties in the room. We chose the lamb shank in a tomato merlot sauce, served over mashed potatoes with a side of green beans, beets, and carrots. The dish was absolutely divine–fall-off-the-bone and melt-in-your-mouth, just as our waiter described. For dessert, we chose the caramel pudding with warm rum sauce, finished with whipped cream and a fresh strawberry. Again, absolutely delicious! We scraped the every drop of sauce from the plate. The prices were on par with other higher-end restaurants ($24 for the main, $9 for dessert). Well worth it, in our opinion. We used a Groupon, which made the value fantastic. We will definitely come again.
We Love West Plains Bistro. My husband and I moved to Plains Rd in April and that’s when we found WPB. We Love it!! There isn’t a soup that isn’t amazing. The food is deliccious, and I agree the staff are great. I too recommend this place. We are so glad we found it and it’s down the street, we can go often.
