2019/05/02Big Sizzler is a busy place at lunchtime. Its in a commercial and industrial neighbourhood, and there is a steady stream of white and blue collar people coming in. The restaurant has seating for about 30, and most of the tables were occupied shortly after we arrived. This place has many regular customers and the guy behind the counter was calling many of them by their first name. SWBMO picked the Souvlaki Platter, which was served on a bed of rice along with a Greek salad. The chicken was seasoned and tasty and had a nice char, but was a touch dry. I had the Falafel Platter which also came with a large portion of Greek salad. The falafel was the smaller kind, shaped a bit like a hockey puck. This style tends to be drier if it is cooked to long, since they are thinner than falafel balls. However these were okay; a touch dry, but the tahini made up for that. Overall a good lunch.
The Big Sizzler has been under new owners since September 2010. It is run by a local family. They are one of the kindest and nicest couple I have met. The service was very awesome and friendly, while the food was absolutely heavenly. The prices are very low as well. The most expensive dish is 9.99. You can have a sandwich on the run, or have a sit in meal. I promise you, you won’t regret visiting this small and warm family restaurant.
