BANH MI SHOULD NOT HAVE CORN. Staff was very friendly, but the food just wasn’t good. The friend chicken bao was really dry, and the bread used for the banh mi was kind of stale. Be warned: the jerk chicken banh mi, for some reason, contains yellow corn.
Didn’t have very high hopes for this place since the reviews are so mediocre, but it was actually ok. We dropped by on a Thursday night and we were the only two customers for a long while. We tried four different bao and a banh mi. While the Japanese Fried Chicken Bao was a total miss for me, I did enjoy the Battered Fish Bao (super crispy and tender when warm) and the Duck Confit Bao. If the duck were more tender, it would be my #1 choice because the flavours meshed together the best with the Asian bao. The Korean Beef Bulgogi Banh Mi was also really satisfying. My only comment is I wish the sauce for the beef wasn’t so sweet. My guess is they make it sweeter to counteract the bits of jalapeno pepper they put in there. I find the Banh Mi reasonably priced, but the Bao are wayy overpriced. All in all a decent meal.
I was in the area recently and although there weren’t any good reviews, decided to take a chance at this new restaurant. The pictures posted by the restaurant looked delicious and I didn’t think it could go wrong when it looked so yummy! We decided to try out the Bulgogi Kimchi Fries, Beef Brisket Bao and Duck Confit Bao. Be aware that the portion sizes are much smaller than the actual pictures (like many other restaurants) but this lead to me being very disappointed. In fact, my friends and I had gone to another restaurant after just because we weren’t full off of the meal we had just purchased. We found it to be a huge waste. The Bulgogi Kimchi Fries did taste great. I loved the kimchi and the taste of the bulgogi. Yet, they had put so little on top of my small portion of fries that it was disappointing. The Baos were a bit on the sweeter end and weren’t as appetizing as I would have liked them to be. I enjoy Bahn Mi Boys much more! I regretted the baos but did like the flavours within the Kimchi fries. The atmosphere was nice and clean. There are plenty of tables. Expect to wait a while for your order if you go during the lunch hour rush. Highly disappointed!
Tried the Bulgogi Kimchi Fries, Duck Confit Bao, and Beef Brisket Bhan Mi. Fries are really big, it’s a 2 person size. The highlight was the Bhan Mi Bun, perfect crispiness on outside, and perfect softness on inside. the beef brisket was a bit salty. Bao is smaller in size and great for you to try out the different fillings.RM
