I tried a few dishes here and although nothing was bad, the only thing I would return for is the beef noodle soup. The stuffed fish ball was bland and nothing special. Also the dumplings don’t have a good wrap to filling ratio. It’s nice to have some authentic Taiwanese food and it’s nice to have some handmade noodles, but the other dishes fell short for me. Oh and the service was pretty good. cookingwithalison.com
I dropped in one night for supper after remembering all the great reviews that I had read about their beef noodles. When I walked in the portable fan was on and I could smell this strong odor of soiled diapers!? Correction, it is their famous stinky tofu. It really wreaked havoc on my nose momentarily. They have soup based, mixed, and stir fried noodles on their menu. Typically, they are paired with beef, tripe or other beef tendon delicacies. My friend and I ordered their small Homestyle Beef noodles ($7.45). The noodles had a nice firm texture and the beef with veggies complimented the soup. It was very tasty and unique. They also have dumplings and beef brisket you can order on the side. Better yet, I will order their stinky fried tofu next time!
When I walked into this place, I gagged. The smell is wretched and I thought someone had thrown up right inside the entrance. Don’t worry about that though, because it’s just stinky tofu. My girlfriend loves stinky tofu, but the last time she had it, it was so bad that I might have broken up with her had I been more shallow.Despite that opening, I actually loved the beef noodle soup here. It was just a small hot bowl of love. I ordered the small because I wasn’t too hungry, but even the small was a fairly large size (I wonder what the large would have looked like). The broth is what separates it from most places. It’s just got this wonderful aroma and was just salty enough. The beef brisket was wonderfully tender and soaks in all that broth. And speaking of soaking, those noodles are just…man, I just wish I had them at home because they would be good in anything. The place is tiny but turnaround is quick because the meals are simple and fast. The service here is real friendly, which made me like the place that much more. If you’re looking for a quick simple lunch, this is definitely the place to go. cheatdayeveryday.com
Terrible smell in restaurant. And I didn’t have any cash but they only accepted cash. So I needed to wander to find ATM machine near restaurant.Do not forget to bring cash if you want to visit
I’m not sure if the noodles here are made in house, but I can tell you that the noodles are cooked exactly the way I want them. Not too firm and not too soft. The original beef noodle soup was definitely worth putting up with the stinky tofu smell. The soup was excellent and the beef was extremely tender. $7.45 for a small size. Will visit again.Update: Revising my rating from 4 to 3. Went again and this time I could not bear the smell. Felt like I was going throw up. Noodles were still good.
Love the beef noodle soup here, the ingredients were fresh and stinky tofus were stinky!!! So good we drive 2 hours every time to satisfy our cravings. If you are planning to eat there, make it your last stop because the smell stays with you 😉
