Went to Shaanxi Restaurant for lunch with a group of 19, and it brought back fond memories of my travels to Xi’an China last summer. If you want authentic Shaanxi cuisine, then this is the place to check out; that’s only if you are a fan of chili and have an adventurous palate. The dining room was clean, the waitress was friendly, and the food came out in a timely manner even though the size of my party.Luckily for myself, spice is my middle name, and spicy food is right up my alley. On the menu today was cold rice noodle with chili vinegar, lamb hotpot stew, beef tripe marinated with chili oil, pan fried buns stuffed with pulled pork, hand pulled noodles in chili oil, and fish stew in a chili broth. The hand pulled noodles was the highlight of this meal as they were smooth, tender and thick, just like how it tasted in Xi’an. Just envisioning it again and writing this review makes me want to go back for some more. No wonder this is the dish that Xi’an is famous for.I wished the spiciness would have been kicked up a notch, however not everyone in my party could take the heat. Would definitely be returning to get my Xi’an noodle fix with the spiciness that’s right for my palate.
