2018/12/08We were in the mood for latkes, so three of us headed to Steelecase Grill for dinner on a Saturday evening. This used to be a Shopsys deli restaurant, and the decor appears to be mostly the same. It is a large restaurant with seating for more than 100, but only one table was occupied while we were there between 6 pm and 7. SWMBO and I both had the 8 oz Steelecase Regular under the Deli Sandwiches menu ($14.99). Hers came with Corned Beef, and mine was Montreal Smoked Meat. Each meal came with a small coleslaw, a pickle spear, and a side. Our side was the the Latke. The meat was thinly sliced and piled high on the light rye, and was pretty good. However, the bread was a bit dry, and broke apart a bit as we ate our sandwiches. The latkes were nice and golden brown, but the flavour was just ok; could have used some more onion, in our opinion. Server was friendly, but service seemed to be a bit slow, given how empty the restaurant was.
